Captain Matthews receives $40,000 in cash from Nick Conrad for a silk shipment arriving from China. Mere seconds after the payment, Conrad’s henchmen lure him away under a false pretense and rob him. Newspaper reporter Jerry Mason observes the heist and manages to pilfer the stolen cash from Conrad.
