In the arid landscape of 1873 New Mexico Territory, a mysterious stranger wakes up alone in the harsh desert. His left wrist is encircled by a strange metal bracelet that he has no recollection of.

Stumbling into the dusty town of Absolution, the stranger receives aid from Preacher Meacham. However, Sheriff John Taggart quickly identifies him as the wanted outlaw Jake Lonergan.

Tensions rise as Sheriff Taggart attempts to apprehend Jake. Just as he moves in, Ella Swenson intervenes, saving Jake from immediate capture.

Colonel Woodrow Dolarhyde arrives with armed men to demand Jake's capture for gold theft. Their confrontation is interrupted when alien spacecraft descend, abducting townsfolk including Taggart and Dolarhyde's son Percy.

During the chaos of the alien attack, Jake's mysterious bracelet transforms, allowing him to shoot down a hostile spacecraft. This moment marks the beginning of Jake's path toward uncovering his past.

In the aftermath, Dolarhyde, Ella, and the remaining townspeople band together to form an ad-hoc posse. They set out to track down an injured alien that managed to escape.

Jake begins to recall lost memories, including a traumatic encounter involving gold and a woman named Alice. Haunted by his past, he finds a renewed purpose to join the posse.

The posse discovers a capsized paddle wheel steamboat, seeking refuge inside its decaying structure. Inside, they witness a horrifying murder committed by an alien who sacrifices himself to save Emmett, Taggart's grandson.

As dawn breaks, discontent brews among the posse, leading to a bitter confrontation between Jake and his former gang. The aliens strike again, abducting Ella and throwing the situation into further turmoil.

In a determined act, Jake boards an alien ship to rescue Ella, engaging in a fierce battle with the pilot. He ultimately avenges Ella's injury by defeating the enemy in a crash-landing.

After the battle, Jake and his remaining posse members are captured by the Chiricahua Apache. Tensions rise as they confront their confusion over the destruction caused by the aliens.

In a shocking turn, Ella's lifeless body is placed on a pyre by an Apache warrior, only for her to rise again from the flames. She explains her connection to the aliens and reveals their motivations.

With newfound knowledge from Ella, Jake rallies a coalition of his former gang alongside Dolarhyde and Apache warriors to fight against the aliens. Their resolve strengthens as they prepare for an all-out assault.

In a climactic showdown, Jake and Ella infiltrate the alien mothership to rescue captives. However, Jake is captured, leading to a rescue by Dolarhyde in a desperate bid for vengeance.

In a powerful act of sacrifice, Ella helps Jake transform his wrist weapon into a bomb to destroy the alien mothership. As the threat ends, the townsfolk begin to rebuild their shattered lives.
