In 1873, a nameless man wakes up in the Arizona desert, confused and injured. He finds a strange metal shackle on his wrist and has no memory of who he is or how he got there.

The loner is confronted by three drifters who attempt to rob him. In a swift act of self-defense, he manages to fend them off, gaining their clothes, weapons, and a horse.

Stumbling into the small town of Absolution, the stranger seeks help for his injuries. Local preacher Meacham tends to him, but tensions rise when he encounters Percy Dolarhyde, a local troublemaker.

Sheriff Taggart mistakenly identifies the stranger as the wanted outlaw, Jake Lonergan. A scuffle ensues, and Jake battles the sheriff's posse to make his escape, only to be overwhelmed by a mysterious woman, Ella.

As tensions rise, Colonel Dolarhyde arrives demanding justice for his son and accusing Jake of theft. Suddenly, an alien craft crashes into the town, unleashing chaos and abducting several townsfolk with its tendrils.

In a surprising turn, the metal shackle on Jake's wrist transforms into a weapon. He uses it to shoot down one of the alien ships, momentarily stopping the assault on the town.

Jake, along with Dolarhyde, Ella, and the remaining townsfolk, forms a posse to track down the escaped alien. They begin to uncover the connection between Jake's past and the alien threat.

As the group camps in a paddle-wheel steamboat, tragedy strikes when an alien ambush leads to Meacham's heroic death. His sacrifice saves a young boy, Emmett, leaving the group heartbroken.

The remaining posse members face an attack from Jake's former gang, who aim to reclaim stolen gold. Amidst the chaos, the aliens launch another assault, resulting in Ella's capture.

In a desperate bid to save Ella, Jake boards the alien ship, leading to a violent showdown with the alien pilot. The battle causes a crash but leaves Ella severely injured.

The posse finds themselves captured by the Chiricahua Apache, who blame them for the alien attacks. A warrior revives Ella, revealing her alien origins and purpose to help humans resist.

Ella explains the aliens' plan to abduct humans and mine gold for their technology. She reveals that Jake's shackle can help defeat the alien invaders, igniting a resolve in the group.

With newfound clarity, Jake remembers the fate of Alice, his former love, and prepares for a counterattack. Dolarhyde gathers the group to mount an offensive against the alien mothership.

In a daring assault, Jake and the posse infiltrate the alien mothership. After rescuing captives, Jake is captured but manages to exact revenge for Alice's death with Dolarhyde's assistance.

In a final act of bravery, Ella sacrifices herself to destroy the alien ship, ensuring the safety of the survivors. Jake, now a wanted man, chooses to leave Absolution behind in search of a new path.
