In the final moments of “Cobweb,” Peter finally confronts his monstrous sister, Sarah, who has been kept hidden behind the wall for years. Sarah is revealed to be a tragic figure—neglected and kept in dark, transforming her into a nightmare creature. Throughout the film, she manipulates Peter, encouraging him to see his parents as evil and helping her escape her prison. Throughout the climax, Peter escapes the house with Miss Devine, who fights to free him from the monster’s grasp. Sarah, still alive but vengeful, tries to persuade Peter to join her, recognizing that they are changes of the same blood. The film ends with Peter moving away from the house, haunted by the memory of his sister and the darkness that lurks within his family. The ending suggests that while Peter escapes the physical danger, the emotional scars of his experiences—and the influence of his disturbed sister—will likely stay with him, shaping his future and reminding him of the terrible consequences of neglect and abuse.
