After a stern lecture, the boys are sent to bed, only for Paulie to demonstrate his method of avoiding the creature beneath their beds — a tactic that involves jumping into bed as quickly as possible. Neal opts to sleep on a dresser to evade touching the floor. As the night deepens, a chilling mist engulfs the room, unsettling everything. They find themselves confronted by horrifying visions of their father, leading to a startling and misconstrued scene when Terry enters, believing Neal is attacking Paulie.
