Batman: The Doom That Came to Gotham

The movie opens in the 1920s with Bruce Wayne traveling abroad for twenty years after his parents’ murder, seeking clues into the criminal mind that haunts Gotham. He moves through distant lands, chasing shadows and trying to understand evil beyond ordinary crime. This long exile sets the stage for a confrontation with forces far older than organized crime.

While investigating Oswald Cobblepot’s expedition crew disappearance at sea, Bruce subdues an undead crewman named Grendon who is freeing an otherworldly creature encased in ice. The surreal encounter reveals a supernatural threat at work behind conventional crime. The danger begins to follow Bruce back toward Gotham.

Bruce and the group retrieve Grendon and return to Gotham City, unaware that the parasite infecting the creature he carried remains. Jay stays on the ship to watch over Grendon as the haunting threat travels with them. The return voyage marks the first hint that the supernatural is entwined with the criminal world they chase.

Arriving at Wayne Manor, the group discovers the corpse of scientist Kirk Langstrom in the library. Bruce experiences a hallucinatory visitation as a demon speaks through Langstrom’s voice, signaling darker powers at work. He disposes of Langstrom’s body as the strange visitation lingers.

Jason Blood, host of the demon Etrigan, appears and explains that a ritual tied to Bruce’s death could destroy Gotham. The encounter links Bruce’s fate to ancient forces and foreshadows a confrontation that could reshape the city. His warning escalates the stakes of Bruce’s mission.

Bruce, Kai Li Cain, and Dick Grayson are invited to dinner at Oliver Queen’s mansion, where Harvey Dent discusses Langstrom’s obsession with bats. The social gathering cements uneasy alliances and sets Bruce on a path toward deeper investigation. The dinner also reveals how Gotham’s power players are intertwined with the coming crisis.

Donning a bat-themed suit, Bruce begins investigating Langstrom’s work at Robin’s Row, which connects to the Cult of Ghul and the Testament of Ghul. His search leads him to confront Talia, who steals the Testament in a bid to resurrect Ra’s al Ghul. The pursuit broadens the conflict beyond a single city to a ritualistic threat.

Grendon manifests ice powers and escapes, killing Jay in the process. The danger intensifies as Killer Croc kills Dick Grayson, deepening Bruce’s resolve to stop the looming ritual. The losses underscore the cost of pursuing forbidden powers.

While searching for Talia, Bruce discovers a book detailing the connection between Ra’s al Ghul and Iog-Sotha, an inter-dimensional demon of darkness. The knowledge deepens the mystery and links Gotham’s founders to the current catastrophe. It confirms that ancient forces are behind the city’s peril.

Grendon meets Talia; the seed infected him emerges as the key to Iog-Sotha. The seed erupts from his body, kills him, and merges with one of Talia’s followers to birth a plant-like demoness that scratches Dent and mutates half of his body. The demoness and Oliver Queen clash and kill each other; Oliver dies, passing holy weapons to Bruce and Kai Li.

Detective Jim Gordon informs Bruce that his daughter Barbara wants to meet him. Bruce goes to Arkham Asylum to see her and encounters the spirit of Thomas Wayne, who reveals Gotham’s founding and the Testament’s discovery and its price. He learns that the Testament opened a gate to Iog-Sotha, setting the stage for the current crisis.

Bruce seizes Oliver Queen’s holy weapons and the bottle housing Etrigan, bids farewell to Alfred, and leaves Kai Li in charge of the Batcave. He heads out to confront Talia, driven by necessity and prophecy. The arrangement signals the final confrontation is at hand.

Bruce defeats and kills Talia, but Ra’s al Ghul transforms into a powerful demon while Iog-Sotha begins to intrude. He frees Etrigan from the bottle, and they escape the caverns as they explode, killing Dent and trapping Iog-Sotha. The city burns as prophecy comes to pass, and the heroes pay a heavy price for survival.

Gotham slowly rebuilds in the wake of catastrophe, with memorials to Bruce, Oliver, and Harvey. Kai Li Cain inherits Bruce Wayne’s estate and vows to use the fortune to rebuild the city, delivering a public speech in Bruce’s memory. Bruce, now permanently in bat form, rests in Gotham’s bell tower, watching over the city.
