Unrepentant shyster Franklin Blackstone, Hank Cheyne, is ambushed in a parking lot by two mobsters who accuse him of defrauding their organization, with the help of an associate named Ricardo. Franklin manages to escape the hit, but Ricardo, his wife, and their young daughter are cruelly murdered by a lone killer while picnicking in a public park, a brutal reminder of the cartel’s reach and the ever-present danger that shadows Franklin’s crimes.
Meanwhile, Travis Blackstone, Lorenzo Lamas, who works for a motor scrapyard, notices someone watching him at a baseball diamond. The watcher is confronted by members of the same gang that previously targeted Franklin, and Travis steps in to defend the woman before she slips away in a hurry. Later, at a bar, that same woman reappears and is revealed to be Rhonda, his ex-girlfriend. Lindee, Kimberley Kates, Travis’s current girlfriend and a bar employee, is displeased to see the two of them together, adding tension to an already fragile love triangle and underscoring the personal stakes involved in the family’s perilous entanglements.
Rhonda informs Travis that Franklin has run into trouble again, a message that pulls him back into the dangerous orbit of his brother’s problems. Reluctantly, Travis agrees to visit Franklin when he learns that their ailing father, John Blackstone, John P. Ryan, has come to live with them. The reunion with Franklin and their father is uneasy; the elder Blackstone pleads for help in buying time with the mob to reimburse a debt that Franklin supposedly owes, a sum the family believes to be around $100,000. The scene reveals painful truths: Travis is a former cop who was expelled from the force and spent time in prison after taking the fall for Franklin in a previous scam, a sacrifice meant to shield Franklin from prison violence. While Travis was away, Rhonda began dating Franklin, though she hints that she might still be drawn to him emotionally.
Franklin’s house is attacked again by more henchmen, this time aiming to abduct the ailing father, and Travis again helps repel the intruders. The incident leaves Franklin visibly shaken and prompts a stark confession: he has implicated his father’s companies in a money‑laundering scheme for the cartel, and the money he stole totals five million dollars. He confesses that he ultimately lost it after trusting a shifty friend who claimed to have squandered it in a get‑rich‑quick scheme, leaving the family’s future precariously balanced on the mob’s patience.
One of the surviving henchmen reports back to Buddha Chang, the cartel boss and the sadistic killer of Ricardo and his family, and Chang is informed that their efforts were thwarted by the same man who was seen with Rhonda at the baseball park. This turn of information tightens the noose around the Blackstone brothers and sets the stage for further confrontations, as Chang weighs his next move in a dangerous game of cat and mouse.
To keep the elder Blackstone safer and provide some stability, Travis moves his father to the home of an old friend nicknamed Preacher, Stan Yale, while the rest of the family rents rooms at a downtown hotel. The brothers also pay a visit to Franklin’s former partner, who, under duress, reveals that he still possesses a substantial portion of the money Franklin invested with him, deepening the financial rot at the heart of the family’s troubles.
With a fresh influx of cash in the mix, Franklin resists the mob’s demands and refuses to hand the money back, demonstrating that his greed and arrogance remain potent forces driving the escalating conflict. The crisis intensifies when Lindee returns to Franklin’s place, seeking Travis and Rhonda. Although the trio has since left, she discovers Chang there. She proposes an alliance, offering information that could help locate Franklin, while Chang menacingly agrees to kill Travis as punishment for Rhonda’s return to Franklin, laying the groundwork for a tense, high-stakes chase that will force every member of the Blackstone clan to confront how far they’re willing to go to survive.
