Overcome by smoke, he collapses in an alley where he is discovered by Sister Claire, a compassionate nun. After a visit to the hospital, she introduces him to Magda, portrayed by Carla Juri, who requires assistance with her home obligations as she tends to her ailing mother.
Upon their first encounter, Magda makes it clear that she is not thrilled about Tomaz's presence, and he also hesitates to remain.
