Mashood, a wealthy man, believes wealth is the key to happiness and decides to test this idea. He arranges marriages for his daughters so that Safura and Suhara wed men from wealthy families, Muharram and Safar, while Mastura is married to the poor goatherder Syawal. His plan sets the stage for the conflict between wealth and simple living that follows.

Safura and Suhara marry Muharram and Safar, and Mastura marries Syawal, the poor goatherder. The matches are intended to prove Mashood's belief that wealth determines happiness. The new couples begin their life under differing social pressures that will shape their choices.

While herding goats, Syawal wanders into a remote cave and discovers a large chest of treasure. The find hints at a fortune that could change his life. The moment plants the seed for wealth that will reappear later in the story.

A djinn tells Syawal that the treasure belongs to Ahmad Albab, the only person who can claim it. This connection between the treasure and a future child becomes central to the plot. The bargain foreshadows the events to come.

Muharram and Safar exhaust their wives' dowries and steal from a jewellery store, lying about where the money came from. They use the loot to buy the goats Syawal used to herd, pushing him out of work. Mastura then starts a small farm near their home to create a fresh source of income.

Mashood's birthday brings the families together as gifts are exchanged. Muharram and Safar present luxurious items while Safura and Suhara stay quieter. Syawal and Mastura give simple salt and sugar, explaining that such basic gifts carry real meaning, and Mastura serves a meal without salt or sugar to illustrate the point.

The couples part ways after the party. During this period Mastura gives birth to a baby boy whose cries test the family. Mashood helps pacify the infant by tapping on a door, and the baby is named Ahmad Albab after that door sound.

Syawal takes his baby Ahmad Albab to the cave, and the djinn sees the infant. He states that the treasure truly belongs to the boy, on the condition that Syawal brings Ahmad Albab to the cave every full moon to play with the djinn's wife and son. The cave bargain becomes the catalyst for sudden wealth.

After the arrangement with Ahmad Albab, Syawal and Mastura become wealthy overnight. Despite the newfound riches, they stay humble and continue to help others in need. The others observe this change with mixed emotions.

Having run through their money again, Muharram and Safar attempt to rob the same jewellery store. The owner is prepared, and the pair are captured by the police. Their failure marks a turning point in their moral and financial standing.

Safura and Suhara are told to find a kind-hearted man who can pay their bail. They are shocked to learn that Syawal and Mastura have become wealthy, and the couple personally pays their former in-laws' bail, setting Muharram and Safar free. This act cements the contrast between true generosity and opportunistic greed.

On Mashood's birthday night, Safura and Suhara present Mashood with trays of precious jewels. Mashood then asks for Syawal and Mastura's present, who give him a model of a mosque to remind him of God. Muharram and Safar finally confess that the jewels came from Syawal, and not them, prompting the revelation that happiness and wealth are not inherently linked. Syawal unveils his own white suit, underscoring the film’s message that true fortune comes from God and should be used to help others.
