Hell

A small group, Marie, Leonie, and Phillip, travel across a post-apocalyptic German wasteland in a Volvo. The daylight is deadly and water and food are scarce, so they continuously scavenges for supplies while dodging hostile survivors. Their goal is to reach the mountains where water might still exist.

A hooded man steals their food and water and abducts Leonie. Phillip fights him and eventually subdues the attacker, who reveals he is a mechanic. Phillip agrees to take Tom along as a passenger if Tom will repair the heat-damaged engine.

The group encounters a huge metal structure blocking the roadway and must work together to move it. While three members scout a wrecked car for supplies, Leonie remains alone in the car, wary of threats around them. The tension rises as they push forward past the obstacle.

As the others are distracted by scavenging, Leonie is seized by carjackers. The group desperately tries to intervene, but they are unable to prevent her capture in time. The abduction marks a turning point as the survivors realize they cannot keep gaining ground without real risk.

The survivors reunite with Tom and decide to pursue Leonie. They spot a large fire at a survivors' encampment and decide to use a Molotov cocktail to create a diversion. Marie and Phillip attempt a risky car-based rescue, but Leonie remains behind, and Phillip sustains a serious foot injury during the escape.

Marie falls asleep in a ruined church and is unexpectedly awakened by Elisabeth, a middle-aged woman who offers water and invites her to stay at a nearby family farm. The invitation promises safety and shelter in a dangerous world, but Marie senses danger beneath the hospitality. She agrees to go, hoping for rest and a lead on Leonie.

Marie is brought to Elisabeth's barn and learns that captives are kept nearby. Elisabeth reveals a brutal plan where Phillip would be used as livestock and Marie and Leonie would be married to Elisabeth's sons. Marie resists, but the situation escalates as Micha pressures her; Leonie intervenes, and Marie is restrained and placed in the slaughterhouse.

From within the farm, Marie witnesses Phillip's execution. She uses the chaos to cut her restraints and escape the slaughterhouse. She then finds Tom among other captives, and together they begin to flee as their captors pursue them.

Tom fights the pursuing farmers while Marie pushes through the woods in search of Leonie. The group breaks away from the farm’s grip, but their pursuers are relentless. Marie is determined to locate her sister despite the danger.

Marie confronts Elisabeth in the farmhouse and defeats her, killing Elisabeth with a captive bolt pistol. Leonie is freed in the melee as the sisters, now united, flee with Tom toward the mountains and their uncertain future.

Karl, Marie, Leonie, and Tom reach the mountains and finally locate a source of water. They drink deeply and sit among the rocks, contemplating their precarious survival. The sky above shows birds, hinting at a fragile glimmer of life in the wasteland.

From a ridge, they survey the valley and see nothing but more blighted wasteland stretching out before them. The future feels uncertain, but the moment marks a fragile note of hope as they cling to each other. The landscape remains harsh, yet they press on together.
