Yateem follows Krishna, Sunny Deol, a young man who becomes the adopted son of Inspector Shiv Kumar Yadav, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, after a police encounter ends in tragedy for a criminal couple. The pair, Dacoit Ujagar Singh Dalip Tahil and his wife, Mrs. Ujagar Singh Beena Banerjee, are killed, leaving their infant son orphaned.
