Priya Saxena Kareena Kapoor Khan, a junior lawyer, mistakes him for her neighbor, Barrister Ram Chotrani, and applies for a job as his assistant because their house numbers match. Raj is struck by love at first sight, and the pair eventually ties the knot, starting a new chapter together.
Two years roll by, and Priya Malhotra Kareena Kapoor Khan (now his wife) is expecting a baby. The couple moves into a bungalow of their own, and Raj hopes for a big promotion that would elevate him to CEO. The celebration at the company’s anniversary takes a sharp turn when Ranjit Roy, the chairman, arrives with his much younger wife, Sonia Roy Priyanka Chopra Jonas. Sonia coolly installs her friend Rakesh as the new CEO, while Raj is brought onto the board, shifting the power balance in the company.
A flashback reveals Raj’s earlier life in Cape Town, South Africa, where he worked for MTN Mobile. There he meets Sonia, a model, and their relationship begins to strain under Raj’s insecurity about her modeling career. When Sonia becomes pregnant, she refuses his proposal to marry and chooses to abort the child to chase wealth and power, ending their relationship.
Back in the present, Raj faces a crisis when his bank manager brings a tape showing a defect in their new handset that causes calls to route to unintended recipients. Raj seeks Sonia’s authorization to halt production, and she invites him to her house, where she makes inappropriate advances that he rebuffs.
The next day, Sonia falsely accuses Raj of sexual harassment and attempted rape, and Ranjit Roy demands his resignation to protect the company. Raj denies the charges, but his colleagues doubt him. At breakfast the following morning, Raj’s friend Ram advises him to resign, convinced the damage to his reputation would be too great. Priya discovers the resignation letter in Raj’s pocket and, torn between loyalty and truth, confronts the idea of resigning. Raj ultimately chooses to take the case to court, drawing media attention and escalating the battle into a public fight over truth and credibility. An attorney, Ravi Patel, attempts to humiliate Raj by dredging up past drunken remarks and showing scratches on his back to paint him as guilty, but Raj refuses to back down.
A breakthrough comes when Raj’s bank manager returns with a tape from the defective handset that captured Raj’s visit to Sonia. Ram submits this evidence, but Sonia engineers an accident that injures Ram and swaps the tape for a fake one. Priya overhears a call in which Sonia orders Raj to meet her to make the case disappear, and she chooses to confront Sonia instead.
Priya steps in as Raj’s lawyer, uncovering Sonia’s affair with Raj and presenting a voicemail from Rakesh that exposes Sonia’s manipulation. It becomes clear that Sonia married Ranjit for money and power, but sought to rekindle her relationship with Raj when her marriage fell short. In the end, Priya triumphs in court. Ranjit divorces Sonia, and, haunted by guilt, Sonia commits suicide by leaping from her office building. In a final, intimate moment, Raj and Priya walk together with their newborn child, ready to begin anew as a family.
