Da-eun, portrayed by Son Ye-jin, has recently graduated and is on the verge of starting her career as a newspaper reporter. She lives with her father, Son-man, played by Kim Kap-soo, who affectionately refers to her as “my heart.” Despite his humble job, Da-eun prides herself on her father’s hard work and dedication.

One fateful day, she decides to go to the cinema with her boyfriend, Jae-kyung (played by Lee Kyu-han), and her friend, Bo-ra (Jo An). They watch a gripping film that draws inspiration from a real-life unsolved crime. The narrative revolves around the abduction of a boy, during which the kidnapper extorted ransom from the boy’s parents; tragically, the child was later discovered dead. The film hints that the sole piece of evidence the authorities had was the ransom call made by the kidnapper, and it concludes with the chilling playback of the actual recording from that call. As she listens, Da-eun’s heart races—she realizes that the voice bears an uncanny resemblance to her father’s. To make matters worse, the man echoes a familiar phrase her father often says: > “It Ain’t Over ‘til It’s Over.”

Once Da-eun returns home, her mind is racing. She starts to investigate the infamous crime that transpired nearly fifteen years ago. Overwhelmed by a growing sense of dread and guilt over the mere thought of doubting her father, she delves deeper into his mysterious past. With only a few days remaining before the statute of limitations on the crime ends, the tension between father and daughter escalates, threatening to unravel their once-close relationship. Just as distrust mounts, a figure from Son-man’s history—the man known as Im Hyung-joon—unexpectedly re-emerges, complicating matters further.
