Wrong Turn 3: Left for Dead

Several years after a reality TV show massacre, Alex, Brent, Sophie, and Trey head into the West Virginia backcountry for a rafting trip. What starts as a peaceful escape into rough waters and quiet woods quickly tilts toward danger as the group camps by the river. A terrifying presence, the inbred cannibal known as Three Finger looms on the margins of the trees, and tragedy strikes when he closes in, murdering the friends one by one. Alex manages a narrow escape, fleeing into the forest with nothing but adrenaline and a vow to survive. The journey from this moment forward shifts from a weekend adventure to a harrowing struggle for survival against an unseen predator.

Two days later, the situation intensifies as a convoy of law-and-order figures takes shape. [Nate Wilson], [Walter], and [Preslow] are assigned to a tense transport mission that involves moving Carlo Chavez, a high-profile crime boss, to a distant prison in Hazelton. They are joined by undercover prisoner and U.S. Marshal William “Willy” Juarez, and they are accompanied by three other prisoners: Floyd, a dangerous neo-Nazi killer; Crawford, a skilled car thief; and Brandon, a former U.S. Marine. The tense mix of guards, inmates, and a covert operation creates a volatile dynamic from the start, with trust constantly tested under pressure.

En route to the destination, the group makes for an abandoned paper mill through Greenbrier County. Their vehicle is compromised when Three Finger’s truck hooks the tires with barbed wire, causing a crash that forces everyone to press on on foot. The trap that follows is brutal and swift as Three Finger closes in again, cutting off easy escape routes and leaving Preslow dead in the wreckage. [Nate] and [Walter] find themselves pressed into a hostile cat-and-mouse game with the criminals, while Alex, who has been living rough in the woods, is discovered by the mismatched group and pulled into the larger threat they now share.

With Alex in tow, the survivors stumble upon an armored truck packed with money. In a tense moment, Nate discovers a handgun in the truck and passes it to Walter, who uses it to shoot Chavez. The weapon turns out not to be loaded, and Chavez retaliates with brutal efficiency, killing Walter in front of the others. The criminals force those left alive to shoulder the money and push onward toward the makeshift campsite so they can repurpose the rafts for a hasty escape. The path is fraught with danger as Three Finger’s reach seems to extend beyond the forest, and the group must navigate treacherous terrain and treacherous loyalties all at once.

As they march, they encounter a trap set by Three Toes, a cunning snare that forces them to improvise and stay alive. Chavez and Floyd then subdue the young cannibal and sever his fate with a cruel beheading, leaving a chilling trophy on the booby trap to taunt Three Finger. The moment underlines a brutal code among the captors: money and escape come at a high cost, and no one is above the violence that surrounds them. Nate’s quick action disrupts the criminals’ attempt to reach the river, but in a cruel twist, Chavez unintentionally triggers a trap that fatally wounds Willy, the undercover marshal, adding another layer of loss to the already heavy toll.

The fugitives push forward and locate Three Finger’s truck, hoping to steal a way out. Crawford makes a desperate move to hijack the vehicle but is lured into yet another razor-wire snare and dragged away by the merciless predator, who uses the forest as a deadly playground. The local sheriff, [Carver], aided by his deputy [Ally Lane], discovers the crashed bus and the wider danger closing in. The search for Nate’s group intensifies as Carver and Ally try to influence the course of events and keep the remaining survivors from being picked off one by one.

The escape plan comes back into focus as Chavez, intent on reclaiming the money, confronts the others at the watchtower ruins. Floyd seizes the opportunity to grab the money, only to be met by Three Finger’s wrath, who lobs a Molotov cocktail and incinerates Floyd in a blazing display of fury. With the stake high and the loot fueling the murderous chase, Chavez makes a brutal decision that turns Alex into a hostage—turning the odds against the remaining survivors. In a blaze of adrenaline and grit, Brandon and Nate rally to rescue Alex, pinning Chavez down and forcing a confrontation that ends with Chavez slain by Three Finger after a ferocious struggle.

Alex awakens in the cabin of Three Finger, only to find Deputy Lane dying from a razor-wire net. Nate locates the cabin and frees Alex, but their escape is thwarted by Three Finger, who relentlessly pursues them as they speed away in a tow truck. A dramatic chase culminates in a crash, with Brandon breaking into the scene to pull Alex free just as the vehicle nears explosion. Three Finger closes in, but Nate kills him in a decisive strike, stabbing him through the head with his weaponized hook. With the threat temporarily contained, the Marshal team arrives at dawn to extract Nate and Alex from the wreckage and secure their safety.

In the aftermath, Nate returns to recover the remaining money from the armored truck, only to be intercepted by Brandon, who murders him to keep the cash for himself. As Brandon begins to hoard the loot and celebrate the apparent victory, an unseen cannibal strikes, claiming Brandon as his next victim. The forest’s shadows linger, reminding viewers that survival in this backcountry comes at a heavy price and that the predators may not always be the ones you expect. The final moments leave a chilling sense that the danger may not be completely over, even as rescue arrives and a fragile calm settles over the dawn-lit trees.
