Wild Geese II

Veteran mercenary Allen Faulkner organizes a company of 50 hired soldiers and trains them for the mission to rescue deposed President Julius Limbani. The program builds their skills, discipline, and readiness for a high-risk operation behind enemy lines. The team bonding forms the backbone of the planned raid.

The rescue raid meets stiff resistance and a double cross. The group is strafed and napalmed by an enemy plane, and the operation begins to collapse under heavy fire. Surviving members scramble to disengage and retreat from the hostile area.

With most of his force lost, Faulkner tries to flee the country aboard an old Dakota aircraft. Janders is shot in the leg and cannot reach the taxiing plane in time. He pleads for Faulkner to end his suffering, and Faulkner reluctantly complies.

The narrative introduces Rudolf Hess as the only surviving Nazi leader in captivity, whose secrets could topple prominent political figures. An international news network is willing to pay heavily to uncover those secrets, raising the stakes beyond the Limbani rescue. The geopolitical implications begin to drive a parallel plot.

In parallel, Haddad—a former Lebanese-American mercenary—moves through London while avoiding Palestinian hitmen. Michael Lukas and Kathy Lukas hire Haddad to free Hess from West Berlin, and Faulkner is asked to play a supporting role but suggests Haddad as lead.

Haddad travels to West Berlin and stakes out Spandau Prison, posing as a jogger to observe the perimeter. He drafts plans of the exterior, guard towers, and entrances, laying the groundwork for a meticulous breakout. The reconnaissance marks the formal start of the rescue operation.

The next day, Haddad joins a construction crew and slips into the prison-guard entrance. He studies patrols and drafts floor plans of the hallways and cells to guide a future extraction. After leaving with the crew, he is abducted by Stroebling and subjected to torture before escaping and being taken to a hospital.

British Colonel Reed-Henry questions Haddad in hospital, suspecting a Hess rescue. Haddad recovers and heads with Kathy to Bavaria to plan the operation without Stroebling's interference. He enlists Faulkner to provide security, and a romance blooms between Haddad and Kathy as preparations continue.

Murphy trains the team, teaching them to pose as British Royal Military Police. Hourigan, an IRA figure, replaces Faulkner's meds with LSD during a fever spell, causing dangerous hallucinations. The tension tests loyalties as the rescue draws closer.

Haddad adds Mustapha El Ali and his people to the roster, plus Kathy's allies, to complete the rescue contingent. Michael is killed during a struggle when a guard retrieves his handgun, yet Kathy is rescued with Faulkner and Haddad in close pursuit. Pierre, the staged crash rider, dies in the distraction.

Hess is sedated and swapped with a look-alike corpse, then placed into a waiting ambulance. A pivotal moment occurs when Reed-Henry is manipulated into killing Stroebling, paving the way for Hess to escape with Haddad and Kathy. The group heads toward Vienna, using a staged route that includes a football game and an East German border crossing.

The trio reaches Vienna and Hess confesses that he has little interest in modern society and regrets the mass deaths of the past. Haddad, Kathy, and Faulkner urge him toward freedom, but Hess insists on returning to Spandau to spend his remaining days there. The personal burden of his past weighs heavily on him.

Hess is taken to the French embassy and turns himself in, choosing nominal custody over political fate. A newspaper later reports a false rumor of Hess’s escape, underscoring the propaganda and uncertainty surrounding the whole episode. The outcome leaves the public record unsettled.
