Viraata Parvam

Vennela is born in 1973 in the Warangal district, during a cross-fire between the Naxals and the police. She grows up listening to her father's poetry and is later inspired by Ravi Shankar (Comrade Ravanna). Her fascination with the Naxal movement begins in childhood.

In 1992 the state police probe her village on suspicions of Naxal ties. They thrash Vennela's father and harass her when she protests. Ravi's troop arrives, ambushing the police and earning Vennela's admiration as he protects the villagers.

Vennela calls off her cousin's wedding, confessing that she loves Ravi. She writes to her parents asking them not to search for her and leaves home the next day to chase him.

In Karimnagar, Vennela seeks out Vidyadhar Rao, who publishes Ravi's books, hoping to learn Ravi's address. Rao refuses to help and is arrested by police as she departs.

Vennela locates Ravi's house and meets his mother, who reveals that Ravi left seven years ago and has been waiting for him ever since. Vennela promises to deliver a letter to Ravi and bring him back.

Vennela learns Ravi can be found at Bhupalpally degree college. Police frisk her as a suspected Naxal sympathizer and escort her to the college, where a tense shootout erupts with Ravi's troop. She doesn't meet Ravi but learns how dangerous the search for him has become.

Vennela contacts Shakuntala, a human rights activist, and confesses her love for Ravi. Shakuntala arranges a meeting, but Ravi tells her that he doesn't believe in love.

Police surround the building; Vennela helps set up explosives so Ravi's troop can escape, but she is captured. Ravi rescues her that night and shelters her at Shakuntala's home.

Against Shakuntala's advice, Vennela joins the Naxals in the forest. Sammaiah, a senior party leader, appreciates her spirit and recommends her to Ravi's troop. Ravi initially rejects her but finally accepts on Bharathakka's suggestion.

Sammaiah is arrested by police for fraud, then rejoins Ravi's troop as a covert agent for the police. Meanwhile, Vennela handovers the letter and asks Ravi to meet his mother.

Based on a tip from Sammaiah, the police attack Ravi while he is meeting his mother. Ravi and Vennela fend off the assault and escape together.

That night Sammaiah executes a mass assault, killing 11 members of Ravi's troop and escaping. He publicly claims the Naxal movement has been infiltrated by covert elements.

The police relay a false party message instructing Ravi to weed out the covert in his troop. Raghu suspects Vennela, and Bharatakka beats her to confess, but she pleads innocence.

Ravi takes Vennela to a secluded forest place, confesses his love, but believes she betrayed him. In a fit of anger, he shoots her into the adjoining waterfall.

Raghu and Bharatakka reveal the covert message was fake; Ravi retrieves Vennela's body from the waters and mourns her loss.
