Vennila Kabaddi Kuzhu 2

Marimuthu grows up as a poor goat herder in Kanakkanpatti. His formal education ends when his father dies when he is thirteen, forcing him to work on the family farm. He can stay at home only during holidays, and he channels his spirit into kabaddi, dreaming of winning a local tournament.

Marimuthu teams up with his childhood friends—Ayyappan, Sekar, Murthy, Appukutty, Subramani, and Pandi—and forms the Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu. Sekar becomes captain, and the squad earns a reputation for never winning a match. Their shared dream is to conquer a local kabaddi tournament.

During the village's annual festival, Marimuthu flirts with a beautiful young woman who visits the village. They organize a friendly kabaddi match against a neighboring village for the festival, with Savadamuthu, the coach of the state's best team, as the chief guest. A disturbance breaks out during the game, testing the team's resolve.

The team travels to Madurai for a high-profile match. Savadamuthu explains that it is a state-level pre-qualified tournament, not open to local teams. They discover their district side has forfeited, so Vennila ends up joining as the Dindigul district team.

Savadamuthu wants to insert a rookie substitute, but the rest of the team rebels and expels him from coaching. In response, Savadamuthu breaks from his former state-winning team and begins coaching Vennila, bringing a tougher, more demanding regime. The new coaching reshapes the team’s approach and discipline.

Under Savadamuthu's hard coaching, Vennila advances through the tournament despite numerous hurdles and disadvantages. The players grow more cohesive and determined as they claw their way toward the final. The journey culminates in the final showdown.

In the semifinals, the opposing team targets Marimuthu and dislocates his collarbone. He is rushed to the hospital, while the rest of the team fights on with a ferocious offense to secure a huge victory. The injury leaves him sidelined for the night.

Ahead of the final, a bookie tries to sway Sekar to stop Marimuthu from playing, threatening the team's chances. The coach and the rest of the team turn on him and expel Sekar before the match. With the lineup intact, Vennila heads into the final determined to prove themselves.

The final begins with Vennila struggling early but surges in the second half. The game ends in a tie, forcing a one-on-one tiebreaker between players from each side. Marimuthu is designated as the defender against the opposing raider, and he blocks the crucial move, preventing the raider from touching the line and sealing the win for Vennila.

Vennila is crowned state champions, becoming the first rookie team to win the title. The village celebrates the unlikely victory as the underdogs prove their worth. The win cements their place in local kabaddi history.

Several months after the triumph, Marimuthu's love interest returns to the village festival seeking him. She discovers he is missing, and it is eventually revealed that he died after a heart-stopping shock from the opposing player's chest kick. His friends choose not to reveal the death to spare her anguish.

The film closes with Marimuthu's mother still in pain over her son's death and with the lovers' hopes left unresolved. The final shot and the decision to hide the truth leave Marimuthu's fate ethically ambiguous for the audience. The story ends with the village moving on, carrying the memory of a champion who died too soon.
