Karamveer Singh is a young, enterprising man from Mathura who earns a living as a Jagarata performer, celebrated for a remarkable talent: he can mimic a woman’s voice with pinpoint accuracy. His father, Jagjeet Singh, is weighed down by multiple debts, making it hard for the family to get by. Karam is secretly dating Pari, a lawyer from a wealthy family, but Pari’s father, Jaipal Srivastav, lays down a hard condition: Pari will marry Karam only if he lands a high-paying job and buys a house within six months. The pressure to prove himself pushes Karam to a bold plan.

To meet the deadline, Karam takes a drastic step. He disguises himself as a woman, adopting the alias “Pooja,” and becomes a dancer at a bar run by Sona Bhai. Pari remains unaware of this secret life, while Karam navigates a double existence that tests his friendships, loyalties, and love.

Karam’s best friend, Smiley Dhillon, is in love with Sakina, who happens to be the daughter of the stern Abu Saleem. Abu has a tempting offer: Rs. 10 lakhs to anyone who can lift Shah Rukh out of his depression. Smiley convinces Karam to pose as a psychiatrist for Shah Rukh, hoping to deliver a miracle that could help secure his own future. The plan works in lifting Shah Rukh’s spirits, and Abu grows ambitious. He wants “Pooja” to be Shah Rukh’s bride, and Yusuf Ali Salim Khan, Shah Rukh’s wheelchair-bound grandfather, pledges a staggering Rs. 50 lakhs for the marriage. Seeing a path to money, Karam accepts the ruse and moves forward with the wedding, planning to disappear afterward.

The wedding night brings a shocking turn. Yusuf notices that “Pooja” urinates like a man and dies from the shock. Abu declares a family tradition: after a death, no member may marry for six months. This rule traps Smiley from marrying Sakina, and Yusuf’s final message on the wall—“Daughter-in-law boy”—is misread by everyone as a wish for a baby boy, piling pressure on the disguise and its unraveling.

With Pooja unable to return to the bar regularly, Sona Bhai keeps pressing for her arrival and even hints at marriage to secure his family’s continuity. Abu’s adopted son, Shoukiya, is drawn to Pooja and tries to win her over, while Abu mistakenly thinks Karam is Pooja’s brother. Jumani, Jumani — Abu’s sister — is attracted to Karam and seeks to marry him, approaching Jagjeet Singh to propose. Jagjeet initially misreads the situation in his own romantic flutter, but the truth eventually surfaces when Jumani clarifies her feelings.

One night in Shah Rukh’s room, Pooja’s wig falls, revealing Karam’s disguise. Shah Rukh reveals a hidden truth: he is gay, and Abu had forced him to end his relationship so he could marry a girl instead. Shah Rukh keeps Karam’s masquerade a secret from the rest of the family, adding another layer of complexity to an already tangled situation. Jumani later invites Karam on a date, but Pari—who is there—misreads the moment and believes Karam is cheating, leading to a painful breakup.

Pooja’s inability to conceive drives Abu to consult Baby Baba, a spiritual guru. The plan includes a sacred dip in the Yamuna, but Pooja escapes, and the family mourns as if she has drowned and died, staging a memorial.

Eventually, Karam learns that Pari plans to marry someone else and rushes to the wedding. He performs a vibrant dance as Pooja, forcing Pari to confront the truth about his sacrifices and enduring love. The gathering clears the air, and Karam bravely confronts Jaipal Srivastav about his classist mindset, recognizing his own misjudgments. In the end, Karam and Pari’s marriage is celebrated with a grand ceremony, bringing closure to a saga of disguises, loves, and the stubborn barriers of pride.
