Tamilarasan works as a daily wage labourer, carrying loads at a busy factory and living modestly. He leads a simple life and earns his living through hard physical work. The opening scenes establish his modest routine and steadfast dignity.

Three wealthy brothers—Radha Ravi, Nizhalgal Ravi, and S. S. Chandran—approach him with a plan to exploit his supposed kinship. They propose that Tamilarasan impersonate a long-lost heir to gain control over a valuable estate. He weighs the opportunity against the risks and agrees to listen.

Tamilarasan adopts the alias Tamilazhagan and begins rehearsing the role as instructed. He moves into the social circle surrounding the estate and starts playing the part in front of the family and lawyers.
