Turbulence 2: Fear of Flying

A group of people celebrate overcoming their fear of flying as they board TransContinental Airlines Flight 110, a Boeing 747-200. The crew prepares for a routine journey around Seattle–Tacoma International Airport, and the mood is upbeat as passengers settle in.

During cruising, a Czech hijacker reveals a toxin-filled cargo and brandishes a detonator, declaring a terrorist plot. He demands an immediate landing at Seattle or a nearby airport, threatening the passengers as the crisis begins.

A scuffle erupts as the hijacker's demands escalate. Elliot incapacitates the captain and asserts control of the plane, taking hostages and leaving the crew to deal with the threat. The airplane becomes a danger zone as the hijack evolves into a hostage crisis.

Aerospace engineer Martin Messerman and passenger Jessica go to the cargo bay to warn Seattle air traffic controller Robert Sikes via a VOR signal about the hijack and the toxin threat. Elliot disrupts communications by switching off the VOR, attempting to isolate the flight from authorities. The clock starts ticking as the hijack evolves into a hostage crisis.

Martin uses the spoilers to slow the 747 to 10,000 feet so the cargo door can be opened without risking decompression. He hopes to get a signal for his cellphone to contact ground control and warn them.

After reaching the target altitude and obtaining a signal, Martin retracts the spoilers and opens the cargo door. He discovers the toxin stored in cargo box A45114, confirming the hijacker's ominous warning was real. The stakes rise as Elliot returns to confront the engineers.

Elliot comes down to the crew compartment and opens fire, exhausting most of his ammunition in the process. His grip on the plane tightens as he orders others around, forcing Martin and Jessica to improvise a way to preserve the toxin and regain control.

Ground controllers threaten to shoot the plane down if it flies over a populated area and order the Bremerton missile to intercept. Elliot attempts to detonate the toxin, but Martin and Jessica manage to drop it from the plane into the water below. The pilots and command centers coordinate to abort the missile strike once the toxin is lost.

The toxin is released into the water rather than onto land, neutralizing the immediate threat to Seattle. The Bremerton missile is redirected and ultimately aborted to avoid endangering the population. Seattle officials acknowledge the toxin's disposal and move toward de-escalation.

Elliot lands the aircraft in Sea-Tac's vicinity and drags the confrontation into the airport control tower, where he is gravely injured and uses the warning to press his demands. Martin remains aboard and attempts to coordinate a safe landing under his threat.

Martin manages to land the 747 with two engines, bringing the crisis to the runway. SWAT teams surround the aircraft and escort the passengers as officers close in. Elliot and Martin descend the airstairs, with Elliot taunting that he’s 'already halfway home' before authorities move in.

Martin's son Trevor is seen in the terminal with one of Elliot's henchmen, wielding a gun, heightening the stakes. The henchman pursues Trevor as SWAT teams close in on the aircraft, creating a tense backdrop on the tarmac and in the terminal.

A fight erupts when Elliot shoots and injures a paramedic, but Martin breaks his wrist spike and stabs Elliot, killing him instantly. Martin reunites with Trevor and Jessica, then meets Robert Sikes and guides the group to safety as passengers begin to disembark.
