An Action Hero

Maanav Khurana, Ayushmann Khurrana, a famous actor known for his action-hero persona, arrives in Mandothi, Haryana to shoot a new film. His presence draws the attention of Vicky Solanki, Sumit Singh, an ambitious young candidate in the local elections who hopes a meeting with the star will give his campaign a much-needed publicity boost. But with a packed shooting schedule, Maanav pays little mind to the political hopeful. Just as the moment to meet approaches, a delivery of a brand-new Ford Mustang grabs his attention, and he drops everything to take the car for a long, heady drive. In a split-second decision, Vicky gives chase, and a confrontation ends in tragedy: Vicky dies from blunt trauma after a headfirst fall onto a rock. The scene leaves behind a broken side mirror—an innocent piece of evidence that points toward Maanav, and a stunned public that suddenly questions the hero’s image.

Unbeknownst to Maanav, Bhoora Solanki, Jaideep Ahlawat, Vicky’s furious brother, publicly swears to avenge his sibling’s death and launches his own personal mission to hunt down the actor. The Haryana police quickly implicate Maanav, citing the conspicuous side mirror from his Mustang as the key clue, and the once beloved action icon finds his reputation shredded by sensational media coverage.

To escape the mounting pressure, Maanav retreats to his house in Portsmouth, while news of the incident travels across the border to the UK. Bhoora, relentless in his pursuit, follows and quickly escalates the danger by killing two police officers who respond to a call near Maanav’s home—an act that transforms the public’s perception of the man they once admired. Now a prime suspect, Maanav is forced to go on the run again, this time through unfamiliar streets and unfamiliar laws, all while trying to prove his innocence.

Desperation pushes him to seek help from his UK connections. Roshan, Harsh Chhaya, his trusted manager, becomes a crucial link, but assistance proves elusive when Maanav’s UK lawyer fails to respond. In a tense sequence of events, Maanav’s car runs out of gas, and Bhoora hijacks a stranger’s vehicle to close the distance. As Maanav pleads his innocence, Bhoora refuses to listen. A brutal trunk-locking captures the moment of their standoff, and the chase devolves into a string of darkly comic, high-stakes escapes that force Maanav to rely on his most famous on-screen fighting skills to survive.

Hope flickers when Sai, Neeraj Madhav, a sharp lawyer and fixer, promises footage that could prove Bhoora’s murderous intent. Sai directs Maanav to a clandestine hacker contact in London to obtain the necessary dashcam evidence. But Sai’s world is dangerous, and Kaadir, Vaquar Sheikh, an ally with his own ties to the chase, is drawn into the web as a potential prize catch for bounty hunters and crime lords alike. What starts as a rescue mission evolves into a web of betrayals, as Bhoora cuts down Sai and then closes in on Maanav as Kaadir, caught in the middle, becomes a hostage and is killed by Bhoora in a brutal turn of events.

With the footage secured, Maanav contemplates surrender, hoping the evidence will clear his name and restore the public’s trust. But fate intervenes in a far darker and more theatrical way. Just as he kneels with his arms raised, ready to yield to the authorities, strangers abduct him and whisk him away in a speeding van. The abductors turn out to be Masood Abraham Katkar, Gautam Joglekar, a feared terrorist who had escaped from India long ago. Katkar drags Maanav to a rooftop, where a staged smile and a provocative photograph for social media set the stage for a new kind of public relations war.

The wedding of Katkar’s family becomes a macabre backdrop for a forced appearance: Maanav is compelled to dance to the bubbly 1980s hit “Aap Jaisa Koi” as Bhoora watches from the shadows, fuelled by vengeance and ego. The hotel becomes a battleground as Katkar’s henchmen close in, and Bhoora’s pursuit of Maanav clashes with Katkar’s own brutal orders. After a series of swift confrontations and a violent skirmish, Katkar is killed, and the two men turn their sights on each other.

Maanav’s martial prowess finally turns the tide as he defeats and wounds Bhoora, attempting to reason with him that the younger man’s brother died in a freak accident, not at Maanav’s hands. Yet Bhoora’s stubborn pride refuses to yield, and Maanav is forced to kill him in a final, decisive use of his on-screen combat skills. It’s at this moment that the bigger truth emerges: Katkar, the terrorist archetype who seemed to pull the strings, has also met his end in ways that reveal a hidden, government-involved operation behind the scenes.

Seizing the opportunity, Maanav crafts a calculated public narrative. He suggests that Katkar was killed in a secret government operation, a story designed to rehabilitate his own image by framing the mission as a government-assisted effort rather than a crime he committed. The media, buoyed by sensational headlines, shifts from vilifying the star to praising his “heroic” status, and the embassy officer who orchestrated the supposed operation receives a prestigious award. In a final reversal of fortune, Maanav returns to India amid adoring crowds at the airport, the former action hero now celebrated as a symbol of national strength and resilience.
