Train to Busan

A truck approaches a toll booth that is currently undergoing sanitization due to a minor leak at a nearby nuclear power plant. The driver expresses frustration over the delay caused by workers in hazmat suits, who assure him that everything is under control.

As the truck driver leaves the toll booth, he is distracted by his ringing phone and accidentally strikes a doe. Upon inspection, he drives away, but the doe rises and ominously reveals signs of infection, hinting at the chaos to come.

In Seoul, we meet Seok-Woo, a diligent fund manager consumed by work, neglecting his daughter Su-an and their fractured family situation. After a stressful day, he disappoints her on her birthday but is compelled to take her to visit her mother in Busan after viewing a heartfelt video of Su-an singing.

On the morning of their departure, Seok-woo drives Su-an to the station, where they encounter a swarm of ambulances and police vehicles. Despite the ominous signs, they board the KTX train, surrounded by various other passengers, including a pregnant woman and a self-centered CEO.

Just as the train is about to depart, a frantic young woman stumbles on board with a massive bite wound. Passengers are left in shock as the chaos begins spiraling out of control, especially after they witness the horrifying transformation of the infected woman.

As mayhem erupts in the train's compartments thanks to the infected woman, Su-an, terrified, seeks refuge in the bathroom. Meanwhile, the infected begin to spread the chaos, specifically targeting a high school baseball team on board.

Seok-woo awakens to find Su-an missing amidst the chaos of the train. A frantic call from a coworker informs him of violent outbreaks across Korea, heightening his anxiety as he embarks on a desperate search for his daughter.

The remaining survivors band together to barricade themselves within the train, realizing that the zombies are unable to open doors. As they collaborate to devise a strategy for survival, one of the passengers cleverly uses water and newspapers to obscure the windows.

As the train heads toward Daegu station, survivors are reassured that military security awaits them. However, tensions rise as they discover hidden ulterior motives of other passengers, particularly the self-serving CEO Yon-suk who manipulates the situation in his favor.

Upon reaching Daegu, the survivors face overwhelming hordes of infected soldiers in a terrifying fight for survival. Each member of the group is left grappling with harrowing choices that test their morality amidst the unfurling chaos.

Inside a cargo train as they attempt to escape, Seok-woo confronts Yon-suk, who has evaded the attacks. Betrayals arise as Yon-suk sacrifices fellow passengers to ensure his survival, further escalating tensions within the group.

In a heart-wrenching climax, Seok-woo faces a devastating sacrifice, parting ways with Su-an and Seong-kyeong as he attempts to fend off the advancing horde. The scene culminates in the selfless act by the homeless man, demonstrating the depth of desperation.

As Seok-woo realizes he is infected, he decides to protect his daughter one last time. With an emotional farewell, he steels himself not to harm her, showcasing the profound love between a father and daughter amid the horrors surrounding them.

As the train approaches Busan, a sniper stands ready to eliminate potential threats. However, Su-an's poignant rendition of 'Aloha 'Oe' interrupts the impending violence, highlighting the power of love and hope amidst overwhelming despair.
