Close friends Wyatt and Christian reconnect amid the bustle of New York City. Christian invites Wyatt to stay at his apartment, and he schemes to nudge their social circle by asking Mara to bring a friend along on a date.

They arrive to find Mara's friend Sandy has fallen and hurt herself. Wyatt examines Sandy and suggests she go to the hospital, and the trio ends up spending the evening waiting to see what happens next.

Wyatt seeks clarity in a session with a psychiatrist, but the discussion shifts toward possession. Wyatt becomes convinced the psychiatrist himself is tormented by demons.

Mara and Christian continue seeing each other while Wyatt's calls grow more ominous, even speaking in Mara's voice about apocalypse. He hoards weapons in Christian's basement and wrestles with thoughts of self-harm.

Christian believes a promotion might be coming, but then he is fired; a coworker's message calls him an asshole. He returns home to find Wyatt waiting and Mara visiting, and the three share a tense, uneasy conversation.

Wyatt pushes for more information about the invasion, insisting on answers. Mara realizes how serious things have become and bolts, leaving Christian to return to an agitated and apocalyptic Wyatt.

Christian arranges psychiatric care as Wyatt confronts Mara in a moment of remorse; she defends herself and injures him, then helps him clean up. Suddenly Mara transforms into a demon, forcing Wyatt to panic and flee.

Wyatt escapes and finds Christian preparing to join a broader effort to confront his own insecurities. He urges Christian to leave the city and brace for the apocalypse, on the condition that Wyatt will attend the psychiatric appointment.

As apocalyptic signs mount, Wyatt becomes convinced Christian is possessed and prepares to kill him as he watches the other man transform. The moment feels imminent, intensifying the sense of danger.

The vision peaks and Wyatt realizes he is hallucinating, recognizing the humanity within Christian and choosing to act on that realization. He frees Christian, and in the aftermath, they share a quiet, relieved embrace as they face the dawn together.
