The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep

In the ending of Sirens of the Deep, the true villain behind the conspiracy to spark war between humans and merpeople is revealed to be Melusina, the niece of Sh’eenaz’s evil aunt. Driven by a desire for revenge against her sister Dahut, who had stolen her lover Basim and failed to give him a child, Melusina resorted to dark magic and transformed into a sea monster, the Kraken, to threaten both kingdoms. During the chaos, Geralt intervened, risking everything to expose her plan and defeat her. With Melusina dead, the immediate threat was eliminated, and peace was temporarily restored, with Dahut healing Sh’eenaz’s injuries using her magic.

However, Agloval, the young prince of Bremervoord who loved Sh’eenaz, made a profound sacrifice. He chose to drink a magical potion that transformed him into a merman, renouncing his human identity and his throne, to be with her. His decision was driven by the understanding that true love means sacrifice, and he was willing to give up his kingdom and humanity for a chance at a life together with her. His father, King Usveldt, disapproving and feeling betrayed, was left bitter, especially after losing his illegitimate son Zelest in battle and witnessing his son Agloval’s departure.

In the final moments, Geralt, sensing that the conflict might not be completely over, warns that King Usveldt is likely planning another attack on the merpeople, hinting that violence may continue. Meanwhile, Agloval and Sh’eenaz finally unite, embracing the hope of a peaceful life together, away from war and hatred. Geralt then departs for new adventures, ending the story with the implication that, though peace has been achieved for now, tensions between humans and merpeople could flare up again.

On a more personal note, Geralt’s feelings for Yennefer linger in the background. As he and Jaskier set out toward Caingorn, Geralt’s encounter with Yennefer remains unresolved—for now, he’s heading into his next story, perhaps to meet her again someday, leaving the door open for future reunion. This ending underscores themes of sacrifice, love, and the hope for peace despite the persistent shadows of conflict.
