The Restless

In 1865, Lawyer Mitch Baker is summoned to the United States Secret Service office where he receives devastating news about his father’s murder. His father was killed in Mission, Texas, after being betrayed by an informer while investigating a notorious group of gunrunners named 'Newton's Raiders'.

Fueled by anger and a desire for vengeance, Mitch declines the offer of his father’s badge, only taking his father's pistol. He sets out on a mission to Mission, Texas, intent on seeking retribution against those responsible for his father’s death.

Upon arriving in Mission, Mitch adopts the persona of a gunslinger, quickly establishing himself by confronting and killing several of Newton's men. His display of prowess and determination sets the stage for his vengeful pursuit.

In Mission, Mitch encounters Mr. Simmons, a man masquerading as a Reverend who operates a shelter for abandoned half-breed children. This shelter is a refuge for these children, who have been rejected by both their Indian and American parents.

Among the children is Angelita, the eldest, who dreams of becoming a dancer. Captivated by Mitch's courage and demeanor, she begins to develop feelings for him, seeing him not just as a gunslinger but as a beacon of hope.

As Mitch continues his vengeful spree against Newton's men, the local children start to see him as an Archangel, a savior against the looming threats in their town. His ability to evade assassination attempts reinforces their belief in his supernatural abilities.

Before Newton’s arrival, Marshal Evans, who had known Mitch’s father, comes to warn Mitch about his destructive path. He expresses disappointment in Mitch's choices and threatens him with imprisonment for murder if he continues his violent quest.

Despite warnings from both Angelita and Simmons, who want Mitch to turn himself in, he is conflicted about his mission. The tension rises as the town grows uneasy with Mitch’s actions and the impending threat of Newton's gang.

Newton arrives in town with a group of armed followers, escalating the situation. Marshal Evans tries to arrest Newton, but he and his gang quickly resort to violence, resulting in a confrontation that shocks the citizens of Mission.

During the attempt to arrest Newton, he fatally shoots Marshal Evans. With his dying breath, the Marshal hands Mitch his sheriff's badge, urging him to uphold the law even as the situation spirals out of control.

Mitch, fueled by loss and anger, pursues Newton into the saloon. In a dramatic showdown, Mitch catches Newton off-guard and they engage in a fierce gunfight that culminates in Mitch shooting Newton, taking vengeance for his father's murder.

After avenging his father, Mitch shares a tender moment with Angelita. He kisses her, symbolizing not just the end of his revenge but a potential new beginning for both of them amidst the chaos.
