The Lost Boys

The Emerson family relocates to Santa Carla, California, to live with Lucy's eccentric father, Grandpa. Michael and Sam begin adjusting to a new town and a new school as they settle into their seaside home.

Lucy takes a job at a local video store owned by Max, who shows romantic interest in her. The job introduces her to the town's nightlife and its enigmatic owner.

Sam befriends the Frog brothers, Edgar and Alan, at the town's comic-book store. They claim the undead have infested Santa Carla and present themselves as vampire hunters.

Michael meets Star on the Santa Carla boardwalk and is drawn into her circle, which is connected to the charismatic leader David. Star's association hints at a dangerous secret behind the town.

David challenges Michael to keep up with the gang on their motorcycles, testing his nerve. He then leads Michael to a hidden lair inside a former luxury hotel buried by the 1906 earthquake.

Inside the hideout, David feeds Michael a hallucinatory illusion—food appearing as maggots—before offering a vial of red liquid that Star warns contains blood. Michael drinks and begins his awakening as a vampire.

David's gang takes Michael to a railway bridge where they hang over a drop and one by one disappear. Michael falters but miraculously lands back in his own bed.

Michael begins to exhibit vampiric changes—sensitivity to light, aversion to normal food, and a fading reflection. He develops a blood craving and nearly attacks Sam until Nanook the dog intervenes.

Sam and the Frog brothers deduce Michael is turning and suspect Max is the head vampire after noticing Max lacks a reflection. They resolve to uncover the truth.

Max accepts an invitation to dinner at Lucy's house, and the family notices he has no reflection, confirming his vampiric nature. The family begins to realize the danger he poses.

David's gang reveals their monstrous faces and demonstrates their ability to fly while killing partygoers. Michael resists the urge to feed, clinging to his humanity.

Star confides that she and Laddie are partly transformed and have refused to kill. She reveals that David wanted her to kill Michael to complete her transformation.

Michael, Sam, and the Frog brothers raid the gang's lair during the day, staking Marko and waking the others. They manage to rescue Star and Laddie and escape as David vows to pursue them that night.

The gang breaks into the Emerson home at night. Sam, Nanook, and the Frog brothers kill Paul and Dwayne while Michael battles David and impales him on Grandpa's antlers. David's death does not undo Michael's transformation.

Lucy returns with Max, who reveals he is the head vampire and orchestrated the turn of Michael and Sam. To save Sam, Lucy agrees to join his plan, but Grandpa crashes through the wall, impaling Max with a fence post and causing him to explode. With Max dead, Michael, Star, and Laddie revert to normal.
