After assisting Batman and Wonder Woman in Gotham City, Barry Allen returns to his childhood home. He reflects on the tragic events surrounding his parents, Nora and Henry Allen, particularly the day of Nora's murder, which led to Henry's wrongful conviction.

On the day that changed everything, Nora sends Henry out for a forgotten can of tomatoes, unwittingly leaving herself vulnerable in the kitchen. An unknown assailant takes advantage of this moment, resulting in her tragic murder.

Overwhelmed by emotion, Barry unintentionally accesses the Speed Force and creates a 'Chronobowl.' This newfound ability allows him to journey back in time to the day of his mother's death, hoping to alter the course of his family's history.

Ignoring Bruce Wayne's warnings about the dangers of time travel, Barry discreetly places the can of tomatoes into his mother's grocery cart. He believes that this small intervention will prevent his father's wrongful conviction.

Upon returning to the present, Barry is ejected from the Chronobowl by a mysterious speedster. He finds himself in 2013, where Nora is still alive, and he reunites with his parents and younger self, realizing this is when he first discovered his powers.

To ensure his younger self gains superpowers, Barry takes 2013-Barry to the Central City Police Department. They recreate the moment of the lightning strike, resulting in both of them being struck by lightning, which empowers the younger Barry but costs Barry his own abilities.

With 2013-Barry newly empowered, the duo learns about General Zod’s imminent invasion of Earth. They realize they need the Justice League to combat this threat but quickly discover key members are not available in this altered timeline.

They travel to Wayne Manor to find Bruce Wayne, only to encounter an alternate version who has long stopped being Batman. He explains that their alterations to time have far-reaching consequences that affect their current situation.

While searching for Superman, they discover a Kryptonian pod in Siberia, where they instead find Kara Zor-El. After freeing her, they take her back to Wayne Manor to strategize against Zod's impending attack.

Barry seeks Bruce's guidance to regain his powers, but their initial attempts do not succeed. In a daring move, Kara helps Barry recover his abilities by harnessing a storm, enabling him to fight alongside the others.

As they confront Zod and his army, tensions rise and the fight becomes increasingly desperate. Kara learns that Zod had killed Kal-El and that the vital Codex is actually contained within her DNA.

In a heartbreaking twist during the battle, Zod succeeds in extracting the Codex from Kara, defeating her. Meanwhile, Batman makes the ultimate sacrifice while trying to destroy Zod's spacecraft, leading to devastating losses.

The Barrys repeatedly attempt to save Batman and Kara by traveling back in time. Each attempt reveals the immutable nature of certain events, leading them to confront disturbing truths about their choices.

An older version of 2013-Barry appears, showing the consequences of their actions. In a tragic and selfless moment, young 2013-Barry sacrifices himself to save Barry from this future version of himself.

With the timeline restored, Barry comes to terms with his mother's death and makes a small change by placing the tomato cans on a higher shelf. His actions ultimately lead to Henry's exoneration during a court hearing, marking a bittersweet conclusion.
