In the bustling heart of New York City, a harrowing tale unfolds as radio host Erica Bain (Jodie Foster) finds her world shattered during a horrific attack. Feeling vulnerable and desperate for protection, she attempts to purchase a gun but is thwarted by legal restrictions. However, fate leads her to a black market dealer who offers her a Kahr K9 pistol for $1,000—an immediacy that Erica cannot resist.

The darkness deepens as she begins to confront her fears head-on. During an unsettling visit to a convenience store, she witnesses a violent crime unfold when a man kills the cashier—their tragic intertwining of lives crystallizing in chaos.
