The Baby of Mâcon

A traveling church troupe arrives at the court of the young aristocrat Cosimo, staging a play that blurs the line between performance and ritual. During the performance, a grotesque, elderly woman—referred to only as the Mother—miraculously gives birth to a radiant infant, the eponymous Baby of Mâcon.
