On a remote Scottish island in 1944, during the height of World War II, a small and secluded convent called St. Augustine’s Monastery becomes the setting for a tense and haunting story. The few nuns living in this isolated place lead a life of austerity and routine, cut off from the chaos of the outside world. One stormy night, as clouds gather and wind howls, a mysterious cloaked figure appears at the monastery’s doorstep, leaving behind a wicker basket with an infant boy inside. There is no note or indication of where the child came from, only the dark night and the raging storm as witnesses to this strange delivery.

The nuns, led by the compassionate Maryam d’Abo as Mother Superior, decide to care for the child temporarily, intending to send him to the mainland once the storm subsides. However, from the moment the baby arrives, strange and unsettling occurrences begin to disturb the peace of the convent. Sister Agnes, played by Amber Doig-Thorne and known for her devoutness and sensitivity, starts experiencing disturbing visions and hearing whispers that echo through the cold stone corridors. She becomes convinced that the child is not simply an innocent newborn but might actually be the spawn of Satan. Her suspicions spark concern among some, but others dismiss her fears, attributing her behavior to the stress of isolation and the oppressive weather.

As days pass, inexplicable accidents happen—objects are desecrated, eerie chants sometimes echo from empty chambers, and some of the nuns begin to fall into trances or exhibit violent behaviors. Sister Eleanor, played by Michaela Longden, initially tries to keep their unity, acting as a voice of reason. But her doubts start to grow as she observes more bizarre happenings, including Sister Valerie’s increasingly erratic behavior. Valerie claims she can see the baby’s eyes glowing in the dark, and an injured bird is discovered mutilated in the chapel—a grim omen intensifying the sisters’ sense of impending doom.

In a desperate attempt to uncover the truth, Sister Eleanor secretly visits Sister Agnes, who confesses that the baby communicates with her through vivid visions, urging her to commit unholy acts. Agnes fears the child is orchestrating chaos within the convent, feeding on their fears and sins. It becomes clear that the entity inside the infant has malevolent supernatural powers, and the calm the sisters once knew has dissolved into chaos and paranoia.

The tension reaches a breaking point when Sister Agnes manages to escape her confinement, determined to confront what she believes is the evil spirit inhabiting the child. In the chapel, a terrifying confrontation unfolds as the baby shows a demonic visage, revealing its true supernatural nature. The nuns are forced to face their deepest fears, question their faith, and fight against the dark force that threatens to consume their sanctuary.

As the storm finally subsides and the convent lies in ruins, a sense of dread and trauma lingers among the surviving nuns. They are left to grapple with the horrifying realization that evil had infiltrated their sacred space, and the confrontation with darkness has left scars that may never fully heal. The story leaves viewers pondering the nature of evil, faith, and the fragile boundary between innocence and malevolence in the face of inexplicable supernatural horror.
