The Airzone Solution

In a future Britain, AirZone signs a lucrative deal with the government to 'solve' pollution. The public is told the company will build filtration plants to clean the atmosphere, but skepticism grows as people begin dying and disappearing near AirZone facilities. Environmentalists worry that the plan is a ruse that serves corporate interests.

Investigative filmmaker Al Dunbar teams with Anthony Stanwick to expose AirZone. Threthewey urges direct proof, so they plan to infiltrate AirZone's HQ and hack the mainframe, aided by Rachel, an AirZone employee acting as a mole.

Arnie Davies, a popular meteorologist, prepares for his broadcast while dealing with flirtations around him. The mounting crisis hints at a major break in AirZone's story that could erupt on air.

Dunbar infiltrates AirZone's offices but triggers an alarm during the hack. He follows the trail to a lab where Rachel is injected with a green fluid; he frees her but is killed in the process.

As Dunbar dies, both Arnie and Stanwick witness his death in visions. Arnie's vision interrupts his weather broadcast and he faints on air.

After a tense evening with Ellie, Arnie is haunted by a Dunbar apparition in his hallway. Dunbar urges him to investigate AirZone, pushing him toward the truth.

Relaying instructions from Dunbar, Arnie guides Ellie to a hiding place where Dunbar kept a spare key and they view his incomplete documentary. A detective arrives with a warrant to seize AirZone property, forcing them to flee.

Arnie, Stanwick, and even Trethewey confirm they are seeing Dunbar's apparition. They locate Rachel, who is in extreme distress from the experimental chemical pumped into her body at AirZone.

Before they can help her, masked men abduct Rachel. Arnie's obsession with the case deepens as he uses his next broadcast to reveal that AirZone's plants are actually increasing pollution.

Ellie lands major assignments: an interview with the Environment Secretary and coverage of AirZone's public unveiling of its pollution-reduction plan by Robin Archer. Arnie's insistence on airtime for Stanwick annoys the minister's ally, MacNamara.

At the press conference, Archer unveils an optimistic plan, but Arnie storms in with a gun demanding the truth behind deaths and disappearances. Archer refuses, and Stanwick arrives with Rachel, recovered with the help of MacNamara.

Rachel and many Britons have been subjected to genetic experiments, growing gill-like appendages on their necks. The AirZone 'solution' is revealed not as pollution reduction but as a plan to increase pollution to breed a new, breathable human race. MacNamara reveals he works for MI5 and departs, noting AirZone was a good idea but a bad image.

Threthewey appears and says Al Dunbar would be proud of Arnie, Ellie, and Stanwick. The origin of the Dunbar apparition and why it appeared is left unexplained, providing an eerie closing mystery.
