Following the events of its predecessor, Chan Tam, Aaron Kwok remains driven to uncover the truth behind his parents’ murder. With a clue in hand—a photograph of the suspect—Tam travels to Malaysia to track down Brother Chai, Chen Kuan-Tai, who holds a fragment of the larger puzzle. Chai, blunt and direct, tells Tam that his parents were drug traffickers and that their deaths are rooted in that dangerous underworld; he also hints that two other figures might hold more pieces of the story: Uncle Bo, Leong Ah-Kau, and Bo’s ally, Fai. Tam struggles to accept this harsh possibility, but the trail grows more perilous by the day.
The investigation takes a dark turn when a burglary at Tam’s home wipes away a crucial object from a shadowy shelf, a sign that a key piece of evidence may have slipped into the wrong hands. With danger closing in from every side, Tam hires a local private detective, Cheng Fung-hei, to help him navigate a maze of secrets and lies. As the case deepens, Tam and Fung-hei come under attack, Chai disappears, and Bo is killed, leaving Tam to wonder who is truly steering the deadly game.
Chi-wai, Chai’s adopted daughter, is convinced that a vital object has fallen into the hands of Tai-kwan, who lies at Chai’s former Guangzhou residence. Jiang Yiyan brings Chi-wai to life as she urges Tam to pursue a trace that might finally crack the case. In response, Tam travels to Guangzhou with Chi-wai, while Fung-hei continues his work in Malaysia. A box of silent tape reaches Fung-hei, and Tam discovers a box of Super 8 film with a password hidden within—a clue that could unlock the deeper conspiracy.
Returning to Malaysia with Chi-wai, Tam and his new ally split their efforts: Tam reunites with Fung-hei, while Chi-wai hands the password to the police. Yet their progress is halted when they are apprehended under orders tied to Tung Ching, the man responsible for Tam’s parents’ deaths. The film exposes a long-buried truth: three decades ago, Ching and Tam’s parents operated a transport company that doubled as a drug pipeline, and when Tam’s parents resolved to expose him, they were murdered.
In the tense finale, Ching moves to eliminate Tam and Fung-hei, but fate intervenes. Ching is shot, and as he attempts to escape by car, he is crushed to death by Ah Fai and Bo’s son. Ah Fai, Kenneth Cheong Tong-Jie, saves Tam and Fung-hei, aided by the past kindness Tam’s parents showed him. Bo’s son, seeking vengeance for his father, bears the weight of his own motive as the curtain falls on a case that finally brings the criminal network to light. In the aftermath, the police recover the password and the silent tape, dismantling Ching’s organization and halting the drug operation once and for all. The journey is long, the risks are high, and the truth, though hard-won, arrives at last.
