Stuntman

In the 1980s, Sam Lee's daring stunt goes wrong when a jump leaves a crew member paralyzed. The accident shatters his reputation and he leaves the film industry. He later becomes a dit da practitioner.

In modern times, Lee is approached by director Cho at a martial arts club dinner. Cho wants to film his swan song as a 1980s-style action film and asks Lee to join as action director. Lee agrees reluctantly out of friendship.

Cho's film features Wai, a now international action star and former member of Lee's crew who despises Lee's dangerous methods. Wai agrees to participate but insists on using his own crew for non-dangerous stunts.

Lee invites Long, a young delivery man who wants to leave the stunt world, to become his aide and stunt coordinator. Long accepts, but his relationship with his worried brother deteriorates as he pursues this new role.

On the first day of filming, Lee is late because he accompanies his estranged daughter Cherry to try on wedding gowns. The delay creates tension on set and disrupts the schedule.

Wai's stunt team ignores Long and significantly alters Lee's choreography. Lee rushes back to set, confronts Wai, and the crew abandons the scene, leaving production short-handed.

Following advice from Cho and Long, Lee softens his directing approach. Long earns respect within the stunt community for his keen sense of choreography.

Budget cuts force the crew to minimize a bank robbery scene, but Lee fights to keep the gunfight sequences. He orders the crew to shoot unauthorized street scenes, escalating risk and chaos.

The getaway driver actor is confronted by police; a miscue triggers a long gunfight that spills into the street. Pedestrians panic, injuries mount, and Lee's focus on capturing raw emotion worsens safety issues.

Police arrest Lee and Long for the staged robbery; they are released later but the production pays heavy compensation to injured pedestrians and faces public backlash. Lee is fired from the project as a consequence.

Lee overhears Cherry wanting fireworks for her wedding, prompting a search for firecrackers; he learns the climactic explosion has been canceled and Wai has rearranged the ending. Cho asks for Lee's feedback on the rough cut.

During the rough cut screening, Lee reconciles with Wai, who agrees to fund a reshoot at a reduced paycheck. The team prepares to redo the ending.

The reshoot begins with Long leaping off a building onto a bed of cardboard boxes after a failed pulley test; the crew improvises safety. Long's brother arrives with more boxes to help, escalating the setup.

As the final preparations finish, Lee tells Long to go downstairs wearing safety pads and signals that Long is ready. He then performs the dangerous jump himself, landing perfectly as a massive explosion erupts behind them.
