Snow Angels

On a cold afternoon with snow on the ground, the high school band is practicing for the last football game of the season. Suddenly, their practice is interrupted by the sound of gunshots, hinting at the tragic events that are about to unfold.

The story flashes back to a few weeks earlier, introducing Arthur, a high school student working as a bus-boy at a local Chinese restaurant. It showcases his mundane life and his struggles with a troubled home environment and growing crisis over personal relationships.

Annie, a waitress at the same restaurant, is introduced as a former babysitter of Arthur who is now dealing with her own issues. Recently separated from her husband Glenn, she is struggling to support her ill mother while managing the tension of her affair with Barb's husband, Nate.

Glenn is attempting to get his life back on track, hoping to reconnect with his daughter Tara and prove he has changed. However, he struggles to find a stable job and faces pressure from his parents to seek a more respectable career.

Despite her efforts to manage her family life, Annie begins an affair with Nate, Barb’s husband. This infidelity weighs heavily on Annie, causing her profound guilt and unhappiness as she betrays her best friend's trust.

Glenn, eager to rekindle their relationship, asks Annie out on a date. Although she agrees, she is disillusioned by his entry-level job at a Carpet Warehouse and feels the deepening rift causing tension between them.

Barb begins to suspect something is wrong when she finds a motel receipt linked to her husband Nate. As she works double shifts to support him, her anger grows, culminating in a confrontation about his fidelity.

One day, Annie falls asleep while caring for Tara, who wanders off unnoticed. When Annie wakes up and realizes Tara is missing, she frantically calls the police and begins searching the neighborhood for her daughter.

After hours of searching with the community, tragedy strikes when Arthur, while smoking pot with his friend, discovers Tara's body in the frozen lake. This heartbreaking moment brings the once-happy community to its knees.

Following Tara's death, Glenn is inconsolable and confronts Annie about his daughter's tragic accident. In a state of rage, he breaks into Annie's home, demanding to speak to her and blaming her for Tara's death.

In a violent emotional standoff, Glenn threatens Annie with a shotgun, forcing her into a life-or-death situation. As he drags her through the snowy woods, Annie faces the chilling reality of their deteriorating relationship.
