Sneaks

In a world of anthropomorphic shoes, Edson, a high school basketball player, wins an exclusive pair named Ty and Maxine. The two sneakers are eager to prove themselves, but Maxine wants to be used in the next game while Ty wishes to stay pristine in his box.

Maxine is thrilled to have an owner who will use her in the next game, while Ty worries about wear and tear and prefers life in the shoebox. Their differing desires foreshadow trouble ahead.

The Collector breaks into Edson's house and steals Ty and Maxine. During the escape, Ty slips from the shoebox and lands on a wire, revealing himself and spurring pursuit.

Ty's cries for help attract JB, an old abandoned sneaker who senses the value of Ty's status. JB decides to help Ty after recognizing he is a luxury sneaker, and joins the search for Maxine.

Back at the Collector's home, the Forger—an enigmatic counterfeit shoemaker—contacts the Collector and outlines a plan to use Ty and Maxine to mass-produce more shoes. The Collector fears exposure and agrees to hunt down the missing pair.

Realizing Ty is missing, the Collector pushes the search and asks for more time from his employer to recover the pair. He heads into the city, following leads and hoping to avoid capture.

Ty and JB travel through the city and meet JB's old friends at a basketball court. They win a game in exchange for information about Maxine, but the trail leads them to Adriana, JB's ex-girlfriend at a wedding party.

Adriana redirects them to a bowling alley, while the Collector crashes into the wedding party and complicates their search. The detour tightens the net around Maxine and pushes the story toward the bowling alley.

At the bowling alley, Ty is betrayed and abandons JB, as JB admits he only helped for looks. The partnership fractures and the search grows direr for Maxine.

Wandering the street, a moribund shoe—cut in half by the Forger—tells JB who the Forger is and what he does with the shoes' remains before succumbing to his injuries. This revelation deepens JB's resolve to protect Ty.

Desperate to save his friend, JB takes Ty's place to spare him from his fate; the Collector locates Ty at the bowling alley and inadvertently takes JB instead, complicating the rescue mission.

The Forger arrives at the Collector's apartment with Maxine in his possession and reveals the Collector's real identity as the former basketball player JB forced to lose the game. Maxine and the other shoes intervene by tying the Forger to a chair.

Ty and Maxine are reunited with JB and Spike, and the group consolidates their strength against the Collector and Forger. The shoes' solidarity becomes clear as they brace for the next move.

Later that day, the Collector decides to return Ty and Maxine to Edson during his basketball game so the star can play properly. The timeline climaxes with Ty and Maxine back on Edson's feet, ready for the next match.
