Melissa Morris [Emily Osment] desperately longs for a little more attention from her father, a best-selling author named Neal Morris [George Newbern], whose world almost entirely revolves around the heroes he creates. In particular, his daughter’s life has become colored by the larger-than-life presence of Tripp Zoome [Jonathan Keltz], the daring and clever protagonist of Neal’s spy novels, a character Melissa both admires and resents sharing space with in her everyday world.

As the calendar nears a long-awaited father-daughter vacation, a shocking twist jolts their plans: Neal is kidnapped by a trio of obsessive fans. The code of the moment is kept by Wheeze [David Henrie] and his ally, Sheldon [Denzel Whitaker], who drag along Andre [Moiss Arias], Neal’s own younger relative, into a dangerous plot. They seize the moment, using the very floss that binds them to trip Merv, sending him tumbling into a refuse-strewn pile. Police ultimately close in and arrest Merv, Maurice, and Skunk, bringing an uneasy sense of justice to a town that had rallied behind its idolized author and his daughter.

In the aftermath, Neal offers heartfelt thanks to the fans who stood up for him, and Wheeze reciprocates Melissa’s trust by sharing his phone number as a sign of connection and support.
