Boys Go to Jupiter

During Christmas break, Billy 5000 hangs out with his brother Peanut and friends Freckles and Beatbox at the Florida beach. They spot a strange sluglike creature while the sun is setting. The discovery hints that odd things are about to intrude on their summer-by-the-sea routine.

Billy quits school to take a job delivering food for Grubster. He discovers a programming glitch in the app that inflates his earnings, which becomes his plan to save up $5000 to move out of his sister Gail's home.

As he works, Billy meets eccentric restaurant owners and difficult customers, including one who never leaves their hotel room. The deliveries expose him to the quirky underbelly of local business.

A delivery leads him to Dolphin Groves Juice Factory, where he runs into Rosario Dolphin (Rozebud). She is the daughter of the company president and uninterested in work. She shows Billy the factory's secret research lab.

Rozebud reveals Doughnut to Billy, a disk-shaped creature from the lab, which Billy impulsively steals along with the lab's secret specimen. He secretly names it Doughnut and begins to worry about the implications.

Billy's friends warn that Dr. Dolphin might be a mutant dolphin created by NASA experiments, linking the lab, the strange creatures, and the factory's rise. He becomes aware of the lab's potential danger.

Grubster catches the programming glitch, and Billy's nearly all earnings vanish. The financial risk heightens the stakes of Doughnut's theft.

Dr. Dolphin contacts Billy, claiming knowledge of the theft and insisting he return Doughnut. She explains Doughnut is part of a set capable of selecting best fruit, a key to building Dolphin Groves, and offers $5000 for Doughnut.

Billy brings Doughnut back to Dolphin Groves but has a change of heart and escapes with it. The two are teleported to the swamp.

In the swamp, Billy meets Glarba, an alien who has been hiding as a hotel-room guest. Glarba hosts an intergalactic food blog and reveals Doughnut and the others are her children. She proposes starting a family with Billy.

Back at Dolphin Groves, Dr. Dolphin faces her own mutant mother—NASA's genius dolphin. The mother orders Dr. Dolphin to yield to Rozebud and step aside.

Billy disappears from the corporate battles and is revealed to have accepted Glarba's proposal. He now lives with Glarba and her children in a cave deep underground.

Some time after New Year's Day, Peanut starts sending food down to Billy's new family via a secret pipe. The covert supply keeps them connected to the outside world despite living underground.
