Divine G finds himself at Sing Sing Correctional Facility, serving time for a crime he did not commit. As he navigates life in prison, he seeks meaning and purpose to cope with his wrongful imprisonment.

Divine G joins a small theater group formed by fellow inmates, driven by the desire to create and perform. This involvement ignites his passion for theater, offering him a sense of belonging and hope.

The theater group initiates the production of 'Breakin' the Mummy's Code', an original play that they aim to perform. Under the guidance of theater director Brent Buell, Divine G becomes the leading playwright and performer.

Divine G initiates recruitment for new members, encountering Divine Eye, a tough and combative prisoner. Their differing views on theater create tension, with Divine Eye dismissing acting as a futile endeavor.

A dispute erupts between Divine G and Divine Eye regarding the genre of their play, leading to heightened rivalry. While Divine Eye proposes a comedy, Divine G argues for a drama to highlight his acting skills, deepening their conflict.

With the approach of their production, Buell leads the inmates through various acting exercises aimed at emotional exploration. Divine G flourishes, showcasing vulnerability, while Divine Eye struggles but gradually begins to engage.

After a heart-to-heart discussion between Divine G and Divine Eye about their lives, Divine Eye begins to take the program seriously. His commitment earns him respect from his peers, transforming him into a more dedicated participant.

The RTA group presents their draft play to the prison board for approval, demonstrating their progress. Despite a chaotic performance, the board surprisingly approves the production, much to the group's relief.

Divine G faces a heartbreaking loss with the death of fellow inmate Mike Mike, a friend he had grown close to during his time in prison. This tragedy leaves him devastated and questioning the purpose of his journey.

At his parole hearing, Divine G passionately speaks about how theater has transformed his life. However, he faces a stinging rejection when the interviewer questions his sincerity, leading to disappointment and frustration.

As they prepare for a dress rehearsal, mounting tensions boil over when Divine G berates the group for their lack of dedication. In a fit of frustration, he lashes out at Divine Eye, leading to a temporary rift in their collaboration.

Following a period of withdrawal, Divine Eye reaches out to Divine G. They reconcile after Divine G apologizes, reaffirming their commitment to the theater group and the production.

Divine Eye successfully secures his release from Sing Sing. Despite their previous conflicts, he promises Divine G that he will always be welcome back in their theater group, showcasing the bond they formed.

A year later, Divine G finally passes his parole hearing, gaining the freedom he has long sought. He is met outside by Divine Eye, marking a poignant reunion filled with hope and shared dreams for the future.

The film concludes with real footage from Sing Sing's Rehabilitation Through the Arts program. It showcases former prisoners performing in past productions, highlighting the transformative power of the arts in their lives.
