Zoya Misochkina, played by Olesya Zheleznyak, is the daughter of a small-town police sergeant who longs to become a singer. She dreams of going to Moscow to take singing lessons and hopes to perform at the local train station restaurant, but her father repeatedly pulls her off the train and back home to Lokotki. After yet another blocked attempt, she finds herself in the town’s detention center, where she meets two Moscow producers, Lyova Bolotov, played by Aleksandr Tsekalo, and Stas Pridorozhny, played by Yuriy Stoyanov, who have just fallen out with their star client, Irma, played by Alyona Khmelnitskaya. Following a drunken episode, the producers are arrested for disorderly conduct, and Zoya helps secure their release, seizing the chance to accompany them to Moscow.
In Moscow, Zoya’s exuberance initially grates on Lyova, especially her overpowering perfume, Lily of the Valley. Yet, despite the friction, Lyova and Stas recognize her singing talent and decide to cultivate her career. As Zoya grows closer to Lyova, she finds herself drawn to him, but he remains more interested in flings than commitments, a pattern that follows from his troubled marriage when Irma left him for Stas.
Meanwhile, Irma and Stas’ son Ludwig, played by Daniil Belykh, returns from England and proposes to Zoya, though she rejects his advances. When Zoya later sees Lyova with a younger woman, heartbreak pushes her to return to Lokotki, taking Ludwig with her. Each character tumbles into emotional turmoil: Zoya mourns unrequited love, Irma weeps in her luxury car feeling unloved, Lyova smokes in frustration, and Stas carries guilt over the strained relationships.
The story culminates with Zoya performing at the Lokotki station restaurant, finally reaching her original dream. During one performance, she spots a weary Stas watching from a table and Lyova smiling at the edge of the stage. She joins the two men again, but two years later, she ultimately leaves them to pursue work with other producers, continuing to chase her passion on a broader stage.
