The story unfolds in the waning years of the Sui dynasty, a time of rebellion, warlord rule, and power struggles. The East Capital and its rival warlords loom large as Emperor Wang Shichong consolidates power. Amid the chaos, Shaolin monks and their young trainee Jue Yuan become pivotal players in the defense of justice.

Shaolin Temple sits by the river near the East Capital, a renowned Buddhist monastery famed for its martial arts training. The temple’s daily routines of discipline and defense shape the monks who guard it through the siege. Set during a period of political upheaval, it becomes a sanctuary for rebels and a focal point in the struggle between warlords.
