Romeo Is Bleeding

Jack Grimaldi is an NYPD homicide detective who appears to have a perfect life. He enjoys a lavish lifestyle with a beautiful wife named Natalie and a teenage mistress named Sheri, all while engaging in corrupt dealings with the Mafia.

Jack's extravagant lifestyle is financed by his corruption, doing favors for the notorious Mafia boss Don Falcone. These favors often include leaking sensitive information, which keeps Jack tied to Falcone's criminal empire.

Jack is tasked with revealing the location of Nick Gazarra, a mobster who has turned state's witness. This mission leads to unforeseen consequences when Gazarra and his protection detail are brutally killed by a Mafia hitwoman named Mona Demarkov.

After Gazarra's death, Mona is arrested, but Falcone orders Jack to kill her to eliminate a potential witness. Instead of following through, Jack is assigned to protect Mona as she is moved to a safe house, showcasing his internal conflict.

During her transport, Mona tries to seduce Jack and attempts to kill him. However, their struggle is interrupted by federal agents, resulting in Jack leaving Mona to face her fate while grappling with his own emotions.

Disappointed by Jack's failure to eliminate Mona, Falcone punishes him by ordering the amputation of one of his toes. This violent act deepens Jack's realization of the dangers surrounding his double life.

Fearing for the safety of his wife Natalie and mistress Sheri, Jack instructs both women to leave the city immediately. He shares the bribe money he has saved and provides them with instructions on how to find him later.

Despite his intentions to hunt down Mona, Jack finds himself increasingly attracted to her. This illicit attraction complicates his professional duties, as he struggles between desire and the need for self-preservation.

Mona proposes that Jack help her fake her own death to escape her situation. He goes so far as to obtain false identification for her, but their relationship becomes a dangerous game filled with twisted intentions.

In a struggle for control, Mona escapes from Jack after causing a car crash. This incident underscores her cunning nature and Jack's vulnerability, as she proves to be far more than he bargained for.

Jack, misled by Mona, inadvertently shoots Sheri, his mistress. Mona manipulates the scene to frame her death as her own, deepening Jack's despair and drawing him deeper into a web of betrayal.

After a series of twisted events, Mona coerces Jack into aiding her in burying Falcone alive. This gruesome act signifies Jack's total moral decline and entrapment within Mona's manipulative schemes.

Mona betrays Jack by turning him over to the police in exchange for a plea deal. This betrayal leads to a planned confrontation at the courthouse, where Mona taunts Jack about their past and his impending doom.

In a fit of rage during their confrontation, Jack shoots Mona dead after a heated exchange. The weight of his actions and Mona's final words push him to the brink, but he discovers the gun is empty when he turns it on himself.

Instead of prison, Jack receives a commendation and begins a new life out West under a new identity. The film closes with Jack's solitude as he awaits Natalie, reflecting on his past and unfulfilled hopes.
