Rise of the Zombie

A water-borne virus triggers a zombie outbreak across the city, throwing daily life into chaos. Survivors scramble to improvise safety as they realize the scale of the threat.

Dr. Lynn Snyder coordinates the survivors' response from Alcatraz, turning the island into a tenuous refuge. Meanwhile, Dr. Arnold pledges to pursue a cure, offering a beacon of hope amid desperation.

Dr. Dan Halpern works feverishly with tissue samples from the undead, seeking any clue to salvation. He faces the grim constraint that he can only study dead zombies, not living ones.

Caspian and other refugees burn the infected corpses kept on the island. The destruction of those samples hampers vital research that could have unlocked crucial clues.

A massive wave of zombies crashes ashore, triggering panic and casualties. Julie, Halpern's daughter, is wounded and infected, raising the stakes for the doctor.

With the island under renewed threat, survivors decide to push toward the mainland for safety and scarce resources. Halpern stays behind to study the infected, hoping to gain an advantage for his loved ones.

Halpern is forced to kill himself by detonating a grenade as his daughter bites him. His death leaves the group with grief but removes a barrier to escape as they move toward safety.

On the mainland, Snyder pursues a cure with Arnold while Caspian's faction focuses on supplies and evacuation. As days pass, more of Caspian's group fall to the infection and hope wanes.

What they believed was a possible evacuation point has fallen to the zombie horde, making escape seem impossible. The group must adapt to the new reality.

A fellow survivor, Ashley, ends her life by steering a trolley into a bus. Her act underscores the emotional toll of the collapse and desperation.

The dwindling group reaches Dr Arnold's hidden refuge inside a water treatment facility. Arnold reveals a vaccine with promise derived from animal testing, offering real hope.

They rush to the roof for extraction by a helicopter. Kyle and Marshall are attacked but saved by the vaccine, reinforcing the possibility of a cure.

The survivors flee the ruined city, with Arnold pushing to establish a laboratory to manufacture the cure. The fight against the infection appears winnable, offering hope for a return to normal life.
