Cassandre, a 26-year-old flight attendant for a low-cost airline stationed in Lanzarote, leads a life characterized by a lack of direction and meaningful relationships. She spends her days floating from one job to another, residing with her colleagues, indulging in nightlife, and engaging in fleeting encounters via dating apps. Although she maintains a deliberate distance from others, reflecting a cordial but distant demeanor towards her well-meaning roommates and her passengers, she does share a significant sadness with a co-worker: her mother tragically passed away in a car accident. Choosing to abandon her father, sister, and the family business in Huy, she turns her back on her past, refusing to confront her profound grief.

In her work life, Cassandre remains dedicated, managing to endure her overbearing boss while consistently surpassing sales targets. Despite her nonchalant ambitions, she dreams of advancing to a reputable airline with more exciting destinations. However, she learns that her contract is nearing its end, bringing her to a crossroads—she has no interest in promotion, yet the only positions available necessitate training as a cabin manager. A phone call from her carrier offering an upgrade to an international plan forces Cassandre to confront her mother’s death once more, as it compels her to disconnect her mother’s phone line—a moment that momentarily breaks her stoic facade.

As she undertakes her cabin manager training, she is urged to apply her newfound knowledge diligently. Cassandre gradually improves her work ethic, strengthens her relationships with colleagues, and enhances her rapport with passengers. Unfortunately, this progress leads to conflicts with her manager, who punishes her for overly generous self-assessments during periods of below-average sales and shifts blame onto her when she explains extenuating circumstances. Demonstrating her growth, Cassandre applies humanism to her interactions, taking it upon herself to buy a drink for a distressed passenger heading for surgery, which violates company policy. This act results in her manager grounding her from flights and placing her on indefinite leave.

Now essentially laid off, Cassandre returns home to her father and sister, who display little appreciation for her career choice. She also finds herself alienated from old friends who struggle to understand her lifestyle of isolation. Her sister reveals that their father continues to seek legal recourse over their mother’s death, but his efforts are thwarted as the victim was deemed at fault for speeding. Eventually, Cassandre interviews for a position at a private jet company in Dubai, a recommendation from an old colleague that leads to a degrading and objectifying experience. Throughout the discomfort, Cassandre remains composed, apathetic to the interviewer’s suggestion that her solitary nature is advantageous for the role.

In a heartfelt evening spent reminiscing, Cassandre bonds with her family over cherished memories of their childhood and the love story of their parents. The next morning, her father agrees to dispose of their mother’s damaged car. Cassandre then visits the accident site, a profoundly significant moment that helps provide closure for the whole family regarding their loss. Afterward, she travels to Dubai, where she joins other tourists in observing the mesmerizing Dubai Fountain, all while adhering to social distancing guidelines.
