Revolt

Bo wakes in a jail cell in Kenya, his mind blank except for pain and fear. In the adjacent cell, Nadia, a French foreign aid doctor, notes his torn name tag and declares he sounds American. She explains that they were captured by a gang of xenophobic thugs and that the world has been invaded by alien machines.

Nadia identifies him as 'Bo' after reading the letters on his nametag and fills in more about their capture. She explains that a world has been invaded by alien machines that now hunt the survivors. They realize his amnesia is tied to his captivity and the strange abilities he is beginning to sense.

Bo and Nadia escape the jail together and begin moving toward a U.S. military base near Nairobi. Bo detects fragments of memory and a budding ability to absorb and discharge electricity. Nadia reluctantly agrees to accompany him on the dangerous trek.

On the route, Kenyan soldiers attack, convinced that America controls the drones even as the world lies in ruins. Bo's powers flicker as he and Nadia dodge gunfire and growing threats. A larger army of machines looms on the horizon.

Bo and Nadia are captured by soldiers who use them as bait for a failed machine-killing operation. Three machines spare them, creating a tense moment as the invaders continue to pursue a fleeing soldier on a motorcycle. The escape becomes a narrow hook that buys them time to press on.

A fatally wounded photojournalist passes his camera to Bo, urging him to follow the photos as digital breadcrumbs to the U.S. base. Bo takes the camera and uses it as a guide, hoping the images will point the way. The journalist dies, leaving Bo with a fragile navigational aid.

Bo follows the photographic breadcrumbs toward the base, but the camera's batteries eventually die, cutting off the trail. The images still spark memories and hints of the route they must take. Nadia remains by his side as they push onward.

In an open field, a vast force of machines advances toward Bo and Nadia. They shelter in a solitary dwelling and retreat to the basement, clinging to each other as the threat closes in. The pair brace for the worst while clinging to hope.

Bo, injured and alone, staggers to a Nairobi base that is in ruins and is rescued by resistance fighters. He is taken to an underground command center where his story of Nadia's capture is met with skepticism. He fights to make others believe what happened and to find a path forward.

Roderick reveals that aliens gather humans to transport them to a hovering mothership, and that this mothership may be vulnerable to attack. He shares sketches of the invaders that trigger Bo's memory of his capture and a device implanted in his spine. Bo learns his amnesia was part of a larger, implanted reality.

The resistance recognizes Bo as a potential beacon for the invaders and contemplates killing him to prevent further danger. He offers to leave to draw away the machines, and agrees to help carry an EMP bomb toward the mothership through service tunnels. The plan hinges on Bo's electrical abilities to power the device.

Bo and a group of resistance fighters reach the area beneath the mothership to plant the EMP bomb. They fight through infiltrating machines, and Bo uses his body as a conduit to power the device to completion. The explosion destroys the mothership and depowers the Nairobi machines; Bo's memories return as he is asked for his name, and he chooses to be called simply 'Bo'.
