In 1978, Vikramaditya, known as Aditya, is a world-famous palm reader hailed as the Einstein of palmistry. After predicting the Emergency when he reads Indira Gandhi's palm, he flees to Rome. There, he remains a roguish playboy until he meets Dr. Prerana and begins to reconsider romance.

On a train, Aditya and Prerana share a spark and exchange glances, but they are soon separated. He is a flirt who believes love is not for him, yet his feelings begin to change. The moment hints at a growing connection that will complicate his life.

Aditya reads the palm of Anand Rajput and predicts he cannot become a politician but would inherit his father's business. Rajput's men chase Aditya, leading to a serious accident. He is admitted to a hospital where Prerana works as a doctor.

After recovering, Aditya proposes a flirtation with Prerana. She initially feels insulted and leaves town, but he follows her and they begin dating. Prerana's uncle Dean Chakravarthy warns her not to develop deep feelings.

While traveling on a train, a stranger asks Aditya to read the palm of his daughter Tara, an aspiring archer. He predicts Tara's lack of a future in sports and urges focus on education. The coach crowd requests palm readings, and Aditya realizes everyone on the train is destined for immediate death.

That evening, the train meets with an accident, causing numerous casualties. Aditya's warning is proven true for many, while he survives. Prerana begins to believe in palmistry and seeks more readings.

Prerana asks for a palm reading and Aditya predicts a long life, but she faints with a nosebleed and is admitted to the hospital. Her uncle begins to question the truth of palmistry in her favor.

Prerana's uncle, a doctor, reveals she has an incurable tumor and may die within months. Aditya's credibility is at stake as he contends with conventional medicine about fate.

To prove his skill, her uncle tests Aditya with five dead people's palms, and Aditya deduces all of them correctly. This convinces the uncle to trust Aditya's predictions and gives Aditya a chance to prove himself.

When a cure for Prerana's illness appears, she proposes to Aditya, but he rejects, claiming he lacks a love line and will leave the country. Devastated, Prerana attempts suicide but discovers Aditya's diary, learning he was prepared to sacrifice his life for her.

Before leaving, Aditya takes Prerana to a ballroom dance as she wishes, and they share an intimate night. She writes a note into his diary stating she would choose to give up her life when such a moment arises.

While in London for his mother's dance show, Aditya reads Prerana's diary note and resolves to act. He learns from Tara, who has lost her hand in the accident, that without a palm a person can still script their destiny.

Aditya boards a cargo ship bound for Italy, is caught in a raging storm, and fights to survive. He fires a flare to summon a lifeboat as the ship sinks, and he is eventually rescued and reaches the hospital.

Aditya arrives at the hospital to find Prerana recovering, and he finally proposes again; she accepts. The film closes with Tara's paralympic victory and the couple's marriage, signaling a new life together.
