Primitive War

Colonel Jericho orders Vulture Squad to search for the missing Green Berets after their doomed mission. The recon team is inserted into a remote jungle valley in 1968 and begins scanning for clues. They aim to determine what killed the unit and whether any survivors remain.

The squad is airdropped into the valley and begins following birdlike tracks and large feathers left by an unknown beast. Baker is attacked by an unseen predator but manages to fend it off. Tension rises as they realize they are not alone.

Inside a cave, the team is ambushed by a pack of Deinonychus and barely escapes. Baker and Leon Verne are separated from the rest of the squad. The others press on while the split team fights for survival.

Meanwhile, the Dogs of War, a Soviet squad, trail the Americans as gunfire echoes through the valley. Aleksandr is ambushed and killed by the same predator that attacked Baker. The danger widens beyond the jungle as both units realize the threat is real.

Baker and Verne encounter a family of Tyrannosaurus and narrowly escape them. Sofia Wagner, a Soviet paleontologist, rescues them and brings them to her hideout at an abandoned research station. She begins to explain that the valley hosts multiple dinosaur species.

From the hideout, Sofia explains that Borodin's particle collider created wormholes that dumped dinosaurs into the valley. She reveals Borodin murdered colleagues to cover up the experiment. The group understands disabling the collider is essential to stop the catastrophe.

The remaining Vulture Squad is drawn into a firefight with the Dogs of War while a flock of Quetzalcoatlus descends, killing Tolstoy. The teams fall back and regroup with Baker, Verne, and Sofia. They are then confronted by more Deinonychus, which drag Keyes away and injure him.

Keyes makes a last stand against the advancing raptors, sacrificing himself to protect the others. He dies after using grenades to slow the pack. The squad escapes by boat back to Sofia's station, though Keyes is lost.

Sofia informs the team that Borodin's collider could destroy the planet if misused, and the group resolves to disable it. She warns that more dinosaurs could already be migrating into the present. The plan is to reach the collider and shut it down.

The squad pushes toward the north end of the valley to confront the collider facility. They are attacked by another pack of Deinonychus as they advance. Stovall sacrifices himself to draw the creatures away and shoots himself before being eaten.

Borodin's soldiers at the Soviet base discover an infant Tyrannosaurus, provoking the parents to attack. Chaos erupts as the dinosaurs overwhelm some defenses. The conflict compounds the mission's stakes.

Vulture Squad plants explosive charges around the collider while Sofia and the others work to disable it. Miller is attacked by Con Nhen and kills her along with himself by detonating his own explosives. The base's alarms rise as preparations to destroy the device proceed.

The tyrannosaurs depart with their remaining chicks, and Sofia deactivates the collider. The valley's environment begins to shift as the device ceases to operate. The immediate danger eases for a moment.

Jericho arrives with American reinforcements as a large pack of raptors assaults the base. Borodin is killed along with Nikita and Taylor, and Baker sacrifices himself to hold off the attackers. Sofia, Verne, Xavier, and Sergei join Jericho to fight off the remaining raptors, then escape as the collider is destroyed.

Sofia warns that damage may already be done, as dinosaurs begin to migrate out of the valley. Jericho's forces retreat, considering the planetary consequences of the collider's disruption. The scene closes with a sense that the altered present will persist beyond their rescue.
