Slave of the Cannibal God

Professor Foster reveals that he had previously visited the island years earlier, where he was captured by a tribe of primitive cannibals. He has returned with the expedition not to find Henry, but specifically to locate and wipe out the cannibal tribe if they still exist, making his personal vendetta against them the true motive for joining the journey.

Beyond finding Susan's missing husband Henry, both siblings harbor a secret agenda: they are actually searching for uranium deposits on the island. This hidden motive explains why they were willing to undertake such a dangerous expedition and why they kept this information from Foster initially.

When the cannibals examine Henry's body, they hear his Geiger counter still ticking and mistakenly believe his heart is still beating. This supernatural-sounding signal convinces them that Henry possesses divine qualities, leading them to worship his skeletal remains as their Cannibal God and preserve his body in their cave.

The cannibals discover a photo of Henry and Susan as a couple among his belongings. Recognizing her as the wife of their revered Cannibal God, they spare her life initially. However, this spared status is conditional and changes once Susan participates in their ritual cannibalism.

Susan is smeared with orange cream by native girls as part of the ritual. However, her full acceptance into the tribe comes after she tastes and eats the cooked remains of her own brother Arthur. This act of consuming human flesh within their ritual binds her to the cannibalistic worship, transforming her into their Cannibal Goddess.

When a cannibal attempts to rape Susan during her captivity, his aggression is halted and he is immediately emasculated and killed as punishment. The tribe's leader apparently enforces this penalty, suggesting that Susan, as the chosen Cannibal Goddess, is off-limits for such violation of the ritual's sacred boundaries.

After enduring brutal torture and ordeal while bound in the cave, Susan and Manolo manage to devise an escape plan. They free themselves from their bonds and successfully flee the cannibal cave into the surrounding jungle, surviving their harrowing captivity despite the extreme violence they endured.

Arthur is killed during the group's ascent up the mountain Ra Ra Me. His death occurs as the party reaches the base of the mountain, marking the first major tragedy of the expedition. His demise also sets the stage for the subsequent horror, as his remains become central to the cannibal ritual.

The timeline earlier notes dangerous wildlife encounters that test the group's resolve and foreshadow the harsher ordeals ahead at Ra Ra Me.

The cannibals hear the ticking sound coming from Henry's Geiger counter, which was still attached to his equipment. Unable to understand the technology, they interpret this rhythmic ticking as evidence that Henry's heart is still beating, leading them to believe he is a living deity rather than a dead body.

Manolo is captured along with Susan and is tied up and tortured while the cannibals consume the other members of the expedition. Unlike Susan, who is spared due to her connection to Henry, Manolo does not receive any special status and becomes another victim of their ritualistic violence and consumption.
