Bharathi and Kannan, once close friends and collaborators, experience a sharp break after Kannan clashes with a director on a project. Bharathi decides to separate and continue composing on his own. The fallout ends their long-running musical partnership.

Kannan refuses Bharathi's reconciliation offer, and details of their fallout leak to newspapers. The public exposure hurts Bharathi and he loses the movie deal. The industry fallout deepens the rift between the two men.

Janaki goes on a college tour and stays at a hotel where Krishna, Bharathi's son, is also staying. Krishna is immediately attracted to her and makes efforts to woo her. Janaki, however, rejects his advances.

Four days after the hotel encounter, Janaki misses her bus and takes a public bus home. Krishna boards the same route to impress her, and a drunk driver briefly takes control before Janaki intervenes and Krishna ends up driving.

The drunk driver sobers up and leaves them stranded, and Janaki stops another bus to continue their journey. Along the way, the pair inadvertently learn the identities of their respective fathers.

Krishna returns Janaki to her college and the two confess their feelings for one another. Krishna must return to Chennai because his mother is hospitalized, and he promises to speak to his father about their marriage. Janaki makes a condition: she will not elope without parental consent.

The family doctor plans to send a nurse to Krishna's mother's home to assist, while Bharathi experiences a major fallout with a prominent music director. In response, Kannan is recruited to provoke Bharathi further, and his own music career begins to surge.

Kannan's music becomes an overnight sensation, flooding him with offers, while Bharathi loses status and opportunities due to the ongoing feud. The balance of power between the two men shifts dramatically.

Krishna goes to Kannan's house posing as the driver, while Janaki pretends to be the nurse the doctor sent. They pretend to be family members to get close to their partners.

Krishna takes on the alias Driver Pandi and Janaki becomes Nurse Kalyani, and both manage to win the trust and affection of their boyfriends' families through careful deception. The bonds begin to form between the two couples.

Trouble erupts when Krishna takes the blame for Kannan's father-in-law leaking news about Kannan's drinking, leading to his expulsion from Kannan's house. Janaki is kicked out after challenging Bharathi and pointing out the irony of his stance on women's rights.

The families converge at a beach house to decide the couple's fate. Krishna's parents start with cautious acceptance, while Kannan initially storms off in anger. Eventually, Bharathi and Kannan are brought together by their children, and the two men reconcile.
