Police Story

Police plan undercover Operation Boar Hunt to arrest crime lord Chu Tao. Undercover officers are placed in a shantytown to lure his gang. When the criminals spot them, a chaotic shootout erupts and civilians scramble to safety.

Chu Tao and his men escape after driving through the town, but their car crashes downhill and they flee on foot. Ka-Kui pursues the gang on foot and halts a double-decker bus by threatening the driver with his service revolver. The chase escalates through the crowded streets.

Chief Inspector Raymond Li rebukes Ka-Kui for letting the operation spiral out of control. Despite the reprimand, the media later portrays him as a model officer to appease police brass. The conflicting optics strain his standing within the department.

Ka-Kui is assigned to protect Salina Fong, Chu Tao's secretary, who is pressured to testify about Chu Tao's illegal activities. The protection detail puts Salina at the center of the case and makes her a witness in the prosecution. Ka-Kui's role shifts from officer to guardian.

A fellow policeman breaks into Salina's apartment pretending to be a knife-wielding assassin. Ka-Kui and Salina fight off the staged attack, and she agrees to be more cooperative. The incident cements her resolve to testify against Chu Tao.

Ka-Kui and Salina drive away in her car but are ambushed by Tao's actual hitmen. Salina threatens the attackers with Ka-Kui's revolver, scaring them away and enabling them to escape. The incident bonds them as they continue the case.

Back at Ka-Kui's apartment, his girlfriend May hosts a birthday party. May grows angry when she sees Salina wearing lingerie and Ka-Kui's jacket, and Ka-Kui explains that Salina is a witness. The party atmosphere turns tense as the investigation proceeds.

Salina realizes the assault on her apartment was a sham and decides to record over her taped confession. She sneaks away in the night while Ka-Kui sleeps, severing direct contact with him. The tampering undermines the prosecution's ability to seal the case.

Chu Tao is released on bail, but Salina's absence and the tampered recording doom the prosecution's case at the trial. The courtroom scene underscores the fragility of the evidence and Ka-Kui's precarious position. The failure also fuels Tao's resolve to seek revenge.

Chu Tao captures Salina to silence her again, and Ka-Kui locates and frees her while fighting Tao's men. The confrontation reveals Tao's broader plan to kill Ka-Kui and frame him for murder. The trap tightens around Ka-Kui as he fights to prove his innocence.

Inspector Man reveals he has been working with Chu Tao, and Salina's capture was a ruse to trap Ka-Kui. He explains the scheme to kill Ka-Kui with Ka-Kui's own gun to frame him for murder. Ka-Kui's world collapses as he becomes a fugitive in the case.

Ka-Kui returns to the police station to plead his case, but the Chief Inspector orders his arrest. In a desperate move, Ka-Kui takes the Chief Inspector hostage to escape custody and continues his investigation. He frees his cooperative superior to keep chasing the truth.

Salina heads to Chu Tao's office at a shopping mall to download incriminating data. Tao and his men rush to the mall, triggering a brutal, all-out clash that devastates parts of the building. Ka-Kui and May pursue the suspects through the carnage.

On the top floor, Ka-Kui slides down a pole wrapped in light bulbs to the bottom floor and catches Chu Tao. The rest of the police arrive to prevent him from acting outside the law. Salina testifies that Tao had Inspector Man killed and that the evidence is in the briefcase.

Defense counsel accuses the police of misconduct, prompting a brutal confrontation as Ka-Kui beats Tao and his lawyer. He is stopped by his friends before things go too far. The case against Chu Tao reaches a dramatic conclusion with lingering tensions.
