In a tense residential shootout, Abe Guevara finds himself at the center of a violent incident that leaves District Attorney Joshua Gregory dead. He is chased on foot alongside his brother Mateo, but a car strike forces Abe to be hauled away to a local hospital. As the case unfolds, a pair of homicide detectives, Regina Lewis and Eric Masterson, are assigned to pursue the truth behind the chaos and the rising web of corruption that may involve the very people who should be enforcing it.

At the hospital, Paul Booker, an everyman ER nurse, oversees Abe’s slow recovery. Meanwhile, Mateo, fuelled by a debt with a powerful gangster known as Big D, hatches a desperate plan. He abducts Paul’s pregnant wife, Taryn, and coaxes Paul into helping him. The plan quickly spirals out of control: Paul helps Abe break out on a stretcher, and the two men slip away just as the detectives close in.

Abe reveals a crucial piece of leverage: a flash drive that could expose several corrupt police officers. Their attempt to transfer this information to Gregory is cut short by an ambush, and Abe is wrongfully blamed for the death that sparked the whole sequence. The pair devise a new plan, aiming to rendezvous with Mateo, but the meeting place—at a bus station—turns into a trap, triggering another chase and a burst of gunfire. They escape, this time on foot after a chaotic car wash pursuit.

Seeking a new ride, they turn to local gangster Cheetah for assistance. The meeting is interrupted when Lewis and Masterson arrive and seize them at gunpoint. In a brutal turn, Masterson realizes Lewis is one of the corrupt cops on the dragnet, and she shoots both Masterson and Cheetah. Paul manages to kill Lewis’s accomplice, Jones, during the tense distraction of reinforcements arriving.

Before Abe can meet Mateo again, he is ambushed by one of Lewis’s men and Taryn is abducted once more. Abe and Paul race to the rendezvous point only to discover Mateo mortally wounded, a death that soon follows. Lewis now wields her power as a looming threat, threatening Abe and Paul while keeping Taryn as a hostage.

With a security footage cache in hand that incriminates Lewis, Abe closes a deal with Big D to settle the debt. Big D orchestrates a distraction outside the police precinct, providing a cover for Paul and Abe while also capturing footage for a movie he is developing. The two men, disguised as first responders and police officers, manage to incapacitate Lewis and rescue Taryn, who is already in labor.

The baby boy is born, a moment of relief amid the chaos. In the aftermath, Lewis is killed by police reinforcements after Abe publicly exposes her corruption on the TV news, sealing a rare victory over a corrupt system.

A year later, Paul and Taryn celebrate the first birthday of their son, whom they name Matty in honor of Mateo. Abe, standing outside with a calm, almost celebratory smile, looks at a picture of Matty’s birthday cake and then rides off into the sunset, tailed by a black SUV, a quiet reminder of the never-ending cycle of danger and loyalty that defined their paths.
